Rauf Jalilovich Kubaev is a very gifted person. Over his entire career, he wrote more than thirty scripts for films, a dozen plays, and shot two dozen art films and series. According to the cultural figure, any subject - directing, writing, writing - goes exclusively through his own personal experience.
Creative development
Rauf Kubaev was born in mid-July 1956 in Tashkent. Before moving to Moscow, he experienced a stormy youth, all the vicissitudes of personal growth, absorbing the rich culture of his father's places and everyday experience of the Uzbek people. Kubaev entered the scriptwriting faculty of VGIK as an adult, and graduated from it in 1994 as an accomplished person. The development of his talent was facilitated by the wise mentors O. Agishev and V. Tulyakova. The brother of actress, producer and film director Rano Kubaeva, the uncle of film actress Ravshana Kurkova, currently works and lives in Moscow.
With a debut at Kinotavr
The first directorial debut of Rauf Kubaev - the film "White Dance" - was created in collaboration with his sister Rano, who participated in writing the script for the film and played one of the main roles in it. Subsequently, they worked together to create several more projects, after which their creative paths diverged. "White Dance" is the story of an unusually beautiful and sophisticated girl who was deceived and abandoned by her husband. Left alone in the cruel world of lascivious men and envious women, the heroine retained spiritual purity and found true love. The film was highly appreciated by the public, received a lot of awards at prestigious film festivals. Young but already well-known actors were shot in the film: A. Domogarov, N. Dobrynin, V. Grishechkin and others.
Director Rauf Kubaev often revealed new stars to the world. Such talents as Y. Chursin, O. Arntgolts, Y. Zimina, A. Suvorov, N. Bakhtina, R. Kurkova debuted in his films. He is currently working on a new television project, “One Life for Two,” and is convinced that the leading actors (E. Panasyuk and B. Chistyakov) will soon write their names in the history of Russian cinema.
As a screenwriter
Rauf Kubaev came to great cinema as a screenwriter. His first breakdown of the pen was the script for the film "Peshawar Waltz" of the creative tandem of directors T. Bekmambetov and G. Kayumov. And the script for the film “Everything is calm in Baghdad,” Kubaev recalls with special trepidation. Filming took place in his homeland, in Uzbekistan. At the center of the story are heroes trying to preserve their family and dignity, despite the atrocities and devastation surrounding them.
Rauf Kubaev considers himself an ideal screenwriter. He understands that the script is a "semi-finished product", an unfinished product that the director will change to suit his vision and ambitions. Therefore, Rauf prefers to receive a fee and forget about the script, because he himself, as a director, always changes the plot according to his ideas about dramaturgy and beliefs.
Like a director
Films and series “Beauharnais Effect”, “On the Edge I Stand”, “White Dance”, “Forty-Third Number”, “Crazy Fate”, “Where Does the Homeland Begin?” Consider Rauf Kubaev to be his favorite directorial work. and "One life for two." By the way, the fictional story of the Soviet spy Gordievsky, working for British intelligence, was the basis of the script for the film “What is the Homeland?” Written in collaboration with A. Borodyansky.
Director Kubaev admits that he considers himself a master of melodramas, but is ready to work in any genre. Now he is working on three projects: Crazy Fate, Victim of Love, and Black and White Dance. Rauf notes that now he is very different from himself, who had barely begun his career in cinema. Recognizes that he has become much more experienced, has learned to value life, so he is not going to stop there.
