“Battle for Moscow” is an epic movie whose actors could not be removed without tears in their eyes. It consists of two films, each of which, in turn, is divided into smaller parts. The plot of each is different from each other.

''Aggression''

The first part of the film shows life in Europe, Asia and the Soviet Union before the outbreak of World War II. The fascists are preparing to attack the Soviet Union and, having learned about this, several Soviet intelligence officers are in a hurry to tell the news to Stalin. However, upon hearing the message, he refuses to believe that Germany was able to violate the terms of the peace treaty. And this mistake, in turn, leads the Red Army to great losses and first defeats.

Zhukov, played by Mikhail Ulyanov, is trying to convince Stalin and warn about the miscalculations that they make, but everything turns out to be unnecessary. The war begins, and everyone understands that the forces are on the side of the enemy. Then, the film shows the heroic resistance and retreat of the Soviet troops. The battle of Smolensk and the withdrawal of troops from the encirclement commanded by K.K. Rokossovsky is one of the brightest episodes of the film. The role of the commander brilliantly played by Alexander Goloborodko.

It is worth saying that the main character of the film is Georgy Zhukov. Mikhail Ulyanov was able to perfectly cope with the task, portraying a truly great commander. He studied a large number of historical sources, met people who knew Georgy Konstantinovich personally in order to bring the created image as accurately as possible to a real historical character. To get used to the role, think and speak like a great marshal.

''Typhoon''

The second part of the epic shows the viewer events related to the development of a grandiose operation by Hitler to capture Moscow. An important role is played by the scout Richard Sorge (Juozas Budraitis), who, at the cost of his freedom, and then his life, obtains and reports information that Japan should not be afraid, since it will not oppose the Soviet Union.

This is important because units of the Red Army are being liberated, which is preparing for war on two fronts. For Sorge himself, this step becomes fatal, as it is calculated and sentenced to death. The film perfectly shows not only the military talent of commander G. Zhukov, but also the heroism of ordinary soldiers, thanks to which the Red Army was able to free Moscow from the Nazi troops.

Hitler in the film was played by the German Achim Petri, who actually had some external resemblance to him. This role in the film is nominal, but Petri’s acting talent conveyed to the viewer exactly what the director wanted to say about the supreme commander of Germany.

At the audience’s trial, Zoya Kosmodemyanskoy’s feat was presented. In “Battle”, the role of the girl was played by Irina Shmeleva, who managed to convey all the hardships that fell on the shoulders of a young tenth grader.
