Tonsil Removal

Tonsils are areas of lymphatic cells located in areas that are the first and most often to encounter pathogenic viruses and microbes. These areas in the oral cavity and nasopharynx prevent the attack of germs and are involved in the production of blood.

Tonsils are divided into paired (palatine). Their inflammation is called tonsillitis or tonsillitis. In addition, tonsils are trumpet and unpaired (pharyngeal and lingual).

In newborn children, these areas are poorly developed and practically do not fulfill their tasks. By two to three months of the baby's life, the lymphoid tissue begins to function a little.

The pharyngeal tonsil develops the fastest . In the sky, the growth of lymphoid sites completely occurs by two years. Upon reaching this age, the glands inside are covered with gaps (narrow ducts), which have the ability to expand with age. It should be noted that their structure contributes to the development of inflammation and pathogenic microbes in them.

By the age of five to seven, the tonsils in the throat reach their maximum size. As practice shows, children at this age are sick more often and are more in need of protection from the effects of microbes. The abundance of vaccinations contributes to the growth of tonsils - this is a kind of reaction of the immune system.

The number of antibodies to various infections gradually increases, and almond tissue decreases by nine to ten years. It is replaced by inactive connective cells.

Removal of tonsils has an extremely negative effect on ensuring the protection of the body from harmful microbial effects. The glands regulate the state of the inhaled air passing through the throat when eating food, and also take part in the development of immunity.

Removal of tonsils provokes β€œstress” of the pharyngeal tissue during the first weeks. It manifests itself, as a rule, with a sore throat.

Removal of tonsils is prescribed only if there is an appropriate indication. For preventive purposes, these interventions are not carried out.

It should be noted that modern medicine today has a large number of effective antibiotics that can get rid of inflammation in a short time, avoiding surgery.

Tonsil removal is recommended when the patient more than four times a year or five times every two years develops tonsillitis. Surgical intervention is also indicated if the patient has a mechanical closure of the respiratory tract (snoring in a dream, which is accompanied by regular interruption of breathing).

Many modern clinics today offer gentle methods of surgical treatment of chronic tonsillitis. Partial removal of lymphoid pharyngeal tissue is often used. In such cases, the destruction of the tonsils is carried out under the influence of ultra-low or ultra-high temperatures. Removal is made of the part that is most affected by inflammation. Such operations are completely painless.

Due to the fact that partial destruction is carried out, after the intervention, the patient suffers for some time from a sore throat, and in some cases, an increase in temperature.

Laser removal of tonsils is prescribed for adult patients and children from ten years of age. The procedure is completely painless, lasting, as a rule, no more than fifteen to twenty minutes. After laser surgery, there are practically no complications, antibiotics are not prescribed, since there are no open wounds and the possibility of infection is excluded. In addition, during the procedure, the patient does not lose blood. This technology is also used to remove the remaining sections of the glands after classical tonsillectomy.
