Unfortunately, the products of Irish cinema and television are unfamiliar to the domestic audience, among which there are a lot of worthy masterpieces. The most successful series include a criminal television show on the RTE channel "Permissible Risk". This mini-series consists of six episodes and tells the story of Sarah Manning, whose wife is killed during a business trip to Montreal. The telefilm began broadcasting in late September 2017 in Ireland, after being broadcast in the United States and Canada. The international show was attended by DCD Rights and Acorn Media Enterprises. After the successful premiere of the first season, representatives of Facet4 Media announced the development of the second, so the series “Acceptable Risk” will soon acquire a sequel, the authors deliberately left its final open.
A brief description of the plot by episode. Episode 1.1
The protagonists of Acceptable Risk are the Manning couple, who live happily in Dublin. Sarah escorts her husband Lee on a business trip, unaware that she was seeing him for the last time. Soon she was informed that her husband was killed in Montreal. She accepts condolences from her family, colleagues and the management of the company in which Lee worked as a sales representative. The Irish police are working to solve the crime in collaboration with the guardian of Canada. To a devastated woman comes the understanding that she knew practically nothing about the past of the deceased, except that he was a native of Chicago. In connection with the investigation, the police are interested in the identity of the first spouse of Sarah, who died in an accident.
Episode 1.2
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of Lee Manning's death and find out that American intelligence agencies have been following him and his family for a long time. Sarah is trying to conduct her own investigation, in which sister Nuala Mulvani helps her. At this moment, a mysterious stranger appears in her life, which confirms her suspicions that the pharmaceutical company where her husband worked was involved in the incident. The series "Permissible Risk" in Russian does not convey all the features of the intonations of the characters, but successfully retains the overall atmosphere.
Episode 1.3
Lee’s case is the responsibility of Detective Emer Byrne. But if she delves deeper into the investigation, the authorities immediately remove her and direct her to continuing education courses in London. Sarah's sister calls the woman for a frank conversation, during which she puts forward a version that Lee knew about her first husband. And their meeting and fleeting romance were planned by him according to hidden intent.
Episode 1.4
In the fourth episode of Acceptable Risk, Detective Emer Byrne decides, contrary to a management order, to stay where he is, risk his career and continue the investigation. She is teaming up with Sarah, who has evidence of corruption in the administration of a pharmaceutical company with politicians and senior police officials. Women intend to confront high-ranking corrupt officials engaged in criminal activities. Their rash decision leads to a new tragedy.
Episode 1.5
Following the resignation of Chief Emer Byrne, the investigation resumes. Sarah is trying to bring Hans Werner Hoffman to the clear, but she does not succeed. The man reports to the social service that she has moved off her mind and is not able to fulfill maternal duties. On the other hand, a woman learns about frauds with real estate, in which her brother-in-law and sister are involved.
Episode 1.6
The FBI agent from the US Embassy finally intervenes in the investigation. Meanwhile, Sarah makes her sister admit the causes and consequences of real estate fraud. It turns out that Hoffman and the company's management were to blame for everything, ready to do anything to keep the 25-year-old secret. Police head to the criminals' office, but Hoffman manages to hide in his private plane.

Elaine Cassidy, the performer of the role of Sarah Manning, agreed to participate in the project, as she was immediately provided for review the contents of all six episodes.
Angelina Ball, who shone in the image of Sergeant-Detective Emer Byrne, joined the cast of the project contrary to the opinion of her agent, who considered the character's image to be too courageous, devoid of female charm. The actress tried her best to make the heroine softer, in whose life there is nothing but work and the search for truth.
Script writer Ron Hutchinson said in an interview with the media that during his work he conducted research on the impact of globalization on the work of international corporations in Dublin.
Criticism
“Acceptable Risk” from the first episode attracts the directorial work of Kenneth Glenaan and acting professionalism, but by the sixth narrative significantly loses pressure, losing the atmosphere. The structure of the story is different from the detective in the usual sense. The main characters, of course, follow the trail of the murder, in a strictly regular order they are given fragmentary information and indirect evidence, they ponder a lot, argue, but their investigation cannot be compared with the classics of Conan Doyle or Agatha Christie. Reviewers in the reviews of the series “Acceptable Risk” express regret that at some point the authors put political and corruption squabbles at the forefront, pushing the detective component. At the same time, the audience is delighted with the key characters, who are both vivid individuals, with habits, character traits, and typical heroes of our time that stand out from the crowd. It is recommended to watch the series “Acceptable Risk” in Russian, as reading subtitles often distracts from what is happening on the screen.
Despite the fact that many of the questions in the series remained unclosed, the advance payment issued after the first series was not fully worked out for the final, the creators should be thanked for another increase in interest in European series. The television industry is currently experiencing a visible upsurge, and such single bursts confirm that the highest level has not yet been reached. So, we should expect new surprises.
