Delroy Lindo: biography and filmography

Delroy Lindo is a British actor, producer and theater director of Jamaican descent. Best known to the general public for his roles in the films Malcolm X, Get the Shorty, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Winemakers' Rules. Since 2017, has been playing one of the main roles in the legal series “Good Fight”. Nominee for the Tony Award and the Actors Guild Award.

Childhood and youth

Delroy Lindo was born November 18, 1952 in southern London in a family of immigrants from Jamaica. A native of the working class, his father changed many jobs, his mother was a nurse.

As a teenager, he moved with his family to the Canadian city of Toronto. At sixteen he moved to San Francisco, California. At the age of twenty-four, Delroy entered the acting school at the American Conservatory Theater.

Carier start

In the mid-seventies, Leroy Lindo began to work actively. He appeared in several episodes of the medical series Dr. Simon Lock, in 1976 he played a small role in the British comedy Find a Girl.

In 1979, the actor decided to take a break in filming in films and TV shows and concentrated on working in the theater. Soon made his Broadway debut, participated in several successful productions. The actor supports the London football club Arsenal. He still calls himself British, despite the fact that he left the country as a teenager. Lindo currently lives in Auckland, California.
