The most common case of injury is a knife wound.

If you turn to police reports, you will see that domestic incidents and unauthorized (intentional and unintentional) bodily harm to yourself occupy a large share of the challenges. The situation is also confirmed by medical reports: a knife wound is a leader among injuries. Unfortunately, it often happens that people cannot live in peace, they need to find out the relationship or prove something to someone. When the arguments are over, the tools at hand are used. This is usually a knife. Also, the knife is a favorite tool of bandits because of its accessibility and freedom of carrying.

The following types of wounds that can be inflicted on a person are distinguished:

  • chipped - a small area and a large depth of the wound;
  • cut - shallow depth of the wound and vast area;
  • chopped - large damage inside and uneven wounds;
  • bitten - often have an imprint of the contour of the teeth;
  • ragged - a large area of damage with different types of wound edges;
  • gunshot - often look like holes made by a variety of guns.

In turn, by the nature of penetration, all injuries are divided:

  • penetrating wounds (abdomen, head, other part of the body) - the nature of the lesion is not only superficial, but also internal;
  • non-penetrating wounds - superficial damage.

The most dangerous are penetrating wounds, since it is often difficult to establish a complete picture of injuries at first glance. As a rule, in addition to damage to the upper layers (skin and subcutaneous layer), internal organs are damaged, which can lead to serious consequences.

In most cases, a knife wound is penetrating. This is possible when striking with the sharp end of a knife. If a knife is struck with its wide side - the blade, then this is a non-penetrating wound of a cut type. In the case of unauthorized damage, most often as a sharp-cutting objects are a blade, glass, knife, razor. As a rule, in the event of an accident, such items are kitchen appliances, equipment, items for the care of the garden (for example, a shovel, a chopper) and garden tools of various types.

All injuries, including a knife wound, are divided into severity:

  • lungs - minor damage (bruises, sprains, cuts);
  • medium - fractures, dislocations;
  • severe - concussion, severe blood loss, fractures of large and critical bones.

As you can see, the severity depends on the consequences to which it led. That is why it is sometimes difficult to establish it at the initial examination. This complicates the diagnosis (the speed and correctness of treatment depends on it) and the patient's condition (the consequences of the examination and treatment).

If a person was stabbed, then he must immediately receive first aid. This, as a rule, is not at all difficult if the witness does not have moral fears and knows the basics of first aid. With a knife wound, it is necessary:

  • the very first is to stop the bleeding;
  • the second is to call an ambulance or attract the attention of others;
  • the third is to disinfect (only in the case of a shallow wound);
  • the fourth is to wipe the skin near the wound;
  • fifth, apply a dressing so that the infection does not get.

Ideally, you should do many more things, and perhaps in a slightly different sequence. But I will say from experience itself, it is the above actions that saved my life when there was a serious stab wound to my arm (forearm). Never be indifferent to someone else's misfortune, especially if you are an eyewitness. Blood loss is serious, since in addition to the phenomenon itself (which weakens the immune system and causes unwanted processes), infection (blood and internal organs) and even death are possible. You can even put an ambulance in the first place - it will be easier morally from the fact that help is already close.
