Sometimes reality raises certain questions in this regard, especially if you watch too much TV or follow the life of stars. News and gossip cause a feeling of absolute inaccuracy of what is happening. In such a world, the meaning of the opposite concept increases sharply in price. Therefore, today we will reveal the meaning of the word "reliability", it will be interesting.
Value
A person is always interested in reliability. For example, a schoolboy comes home and says: “Dad, I got a deuce, congratulate me!” And the parent answers him: “Great, son! Forget about school, you better go play video games. ” Unreliable, huh? Yes, realism is lacking. And as it usually happens, everyone knows, therefore it is better to turn to the high, that is, to the meaning of the word "reliability" in the explanatory dictionary: "Faithful (in the first meaning), not in doubt." As the reader could understand, we took not the meaning of the noun, but the meaning of the adjective, because the dictionary prefers to define one through the other.
However, we still have not revealed the meaning of the adjective "faithful." We hasten to correct this mistake: "Corresponding to the truth, correct, exact." Of course, we are only interested in the first meaning of the adjective, and the rest is not the topic of our conversation.
Synonyms
Even such a good word as “authenticity” needs friends. The mutual attraction of people is usually due to common interests, the same can be said about words, only they have meaning instead of interest. Of course, at the deepest level, interest and meaning coincide, but let us leave this burning topic, for it will take us far. It is important to understand that in the main sense, synonyms are one. And if so, then we look at the list that turned out:
- truthfulness;
- truthfulness;
- reliability;
- accuracy;
- fidelity;
- authenticity.
All synonyms speak of harmony between what a person says or does and facts. That is, one corresponds to the other. If a person, for example, in court, with his hand on the Bible, says that he was at work, but actually played golf, then his words cannot be recognized as true. Credibility is what requires accuracy. Yes, we apologize for some Americanism in the example. In our country, no one swears on the Bible in court, in general there is no cinematography in action, but the West knows a lot about this.
Reality is always present in our stories.

If you think that credibility is a necessary element of testimony in court only, then you are mistaken. Even when a writer composes a horrible story of improbability about some animals that track down their prey, solely focusing on the smell of thought, realism is also important here. The latter, of course, is of a completely different kind than in documentary literature, but it should be. For example, we theoretically admit the existence of other forms of life on other planets. Thought is an impulse, that is, a physical phenomenon, which means it leaves a fleeting trace in a world that we don’t feel, but hypothetically existing organisms can feel. Therefore, as you can see, fantasy in its own way is extremely realistic, and a work in which there is no credibility (and this is quite possible if the writer is hopelessly bad) is boring to read. If someone is interested in the plot we are analyzing, then this is the story of Robert Sheckley, which is called the “Smell of Thought”.
Reality in one form or another is always present in the space of our thinking as a background. So, whether we want it or not, it has to be taken into account. In other words, it is difficult in the search for truth to ignore the question of what reliability is, because it is the cornerstone.
