William Hope: biography and filmography

William Hope is a Canadian theater, film and television actor. Best known for starring in James Cameron's sci-fi action movie Aliens and the horror film HellRaiser 2. He works a lot in voice acting. Performs one of the main roles in the spy series "Shadow Power". During his career he participated in one hundred and sixty projects.

Childhood and youth

William Hope was born March 2, 1955 in the city of Montreal, Quebec. In his teens, he joined the troupe of the National Youth Theater in London, after graduation he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Carier start

After graduating from the academy, William Hope played almost continuously in the theater for seven years, and also participated in more than a hundred radio plays for British radio. In the early eighties he began to appear in films, often in small roles, often episodic. He participated in several British series as a guest star.

Breakthrough roles

The famous director Stanley Kubrick offered William Hope the main role in the military drama "Full Metal Shell", but the actor chose to star in the sequel to the famous sci-fi horror film "Alien". He played Lieutenant Gorman, an inexperienced commander of a group of marines. James Cameron's film became one of the best sequels in the history of cinema and gained cult status, and the main role in the film Kubrick was played by another talented actor - Matthew Modein.

Aliens movie

William Hope later appeared in another cult franchise, starring in the movie HellRaiser 2. In the nineties, he practically did not work in the cinema, one can only note a small appearance in the spy film "Holy". During this period, he again concentrated on working in the theater and on the radio.

At the beginning of the two thousandth appeared in several Hollywood blockbusters, including "Heavenly Captain and the World of the Future" and "Three X". Later he played in several low-budget action films with Wesley Snipes and Stephen Seagal, which in most countries came out immediately on video media, bypassing movie theaters.

Recent work

In recent years, William Hope has been increasingly seen in high-budget films in cameo roles and cameos. He has appeared in Hollywood blockbusters such as Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie and the superhero movie Captain America: The First Avenger.

On television, the actor worked as a guest star in the comedy series "Episodes" and the last season of the popular British show "Ghosts."
