Everything that grows on your site and deserves to grow there needs regular watering. But often we are governed by circumstances that we cannot overcome. Someone had a car breakdown, someone had a knack, someone urgently needed to be in another place. And the forecasted rain is not expected for at least another week. In such cases, gardeners and gardeners help out automatic irrigation systems.
Any irrigation system is an engineering structure. It is understood that only professionals should deal with it. However, it only seems incredibly complex. And what if the budget allocated to the garden plot is not enough to hire professionals? If you apply competent design and correct installation, it is quite possible to organize automatic watering with your own hands.
It is necessary to determine the amount of water needed in a particular area. It should be noted that the vegetable garden,
orchard and green lawn have different water needs. The larger the irrigated area, the larger the diameter of the pipe should be in order to provide the required
throughput.Now you need to carefully plan everything. To do this, make a schematic plan of your site and designate watering zones on it. Now remember how to work with the compass - it will help you outline the sectors that sprinklers will cover.
The self-made watering system created by the hands will provide all plants with water using two types of sprinklers: static (best work in areas less than 10 m) and rotary, with a variable radius of irrigation. Place the sprinklers on the site plan in this way: first, those that will be located in the corners of the irrigation zone, then at their borders, and last - central (if necessary). The distance between the heads of the sprinklers should be equal to their radius of action (pay attention to this and do not confuse with the diameter!): In this way, uniform irrigation will be ensured.
The next step is to determine the number of irrigation zones. This means that the sprinklers in each zone will be controlled by only one valve at a time. The specialized literature has a lot of reference data that will help you determine how optimally do-it-yourself automatic irrigation will work,
water flow and number of sprinklers, diameter of supply pipes and pressure loss. The best result is achieved by playing with the
diameter of the pipes and the number of sprinklers, but do not neglect the ability to adjust the flow of
solenoid valves.If the desired result does not appear in any way, you may have combined both types of devices with different irrigation intensities into one zone. Rotary sprinklers are watered 2-3 times longer than static.
Watering equipment is not limited to the above units. An important role in the system is given to the controller - a programmable mini-computer that takes into account a number of different factors in the optimal watering formula, up to the data of its own weather station. Of course, such a controller is not very cheap, but water consumption can be reduced from 1/5 of the volume to 1/2!
It can be concluded that do-it-yourself watering does not only make sense, but also the benefits that a full-fledged crop, a well-groomed suburban area and a reduction in irrigation water costs will bring you.
