Films about ships and the sea will hardly ever go out of style. For more than a decade, spectators have been bawling on the adventures of brave travelers, treasure hunters and pirates. Uncharted lands, sunken ships, living in the abyss of the monster - this topic is inexhaustible. So, which paintings deserve attention in the first place?
Where to begin
"Pirates of the Caribbean" - a series of paintings about brave adventurers. The story of Jack Sparrow and his friends cannot be ignored, listing fascinating films about ships and the sea. It begins with the fact that the captain of the "Black Pearl" loses his ship, which becomes the property of his old enemy Barbarossa. Of course, the pirate intends to return the lost, and he is not worried about the terrible curse that hangs over the opponent and his team.
The first film of the series, released in 2003, pleased the audience, so the story continued. At the moment, four parts of the saga are available for viewing, the fifth is expected soon.
The film "White Flurry" (1996)
“White Flurry” is Ridley Scott's adventure drama, which also cannot be ignored when listing interesting films about ships and the sea. In 1960, the sailing brigantine "Albatross" goes around the world. The expedition is commanded by Captain Christopher Sheldon, under whose supervision there are inexperienced boys, graduates of the Ocean Academy.
The trip could have been pleasant if it had not been for the storm. It seems that the surging waves want to tear the ship to pieces and destroy all its passengers. The team courageously enters the struggle for survival, however, not everyone will be able to avoid death and return to earth.
The film "Master of the Seas: At the Edge of the Earth" (2003)
Not only dramas, but also action movies are worthy of the attention of the audience. “The Master of the Seas: On the Edge of the Earth" (2003) - a fascinating film in which the main role was played by Russell Crowe. Events take place in the era of the Napoleonic Wars. Surprise military sailboat suddenly attacks a mysterious ship that emerges from the fog. The crew manages to repel the attack and escape from death.
“Surprise” could continue its journey, however, in this case, the picture “Master of the Seas: At the Edge of the Earth” (2003) would hardly impress the audience. Captain Jack Aubrey is sincerely outraged by the arrogance of the enemy and can not leave the impudent attack without an answer. He rushes in pursuit of an unknown ship, endangering not only his life and reputation, but also the entire team, which is under his command.

The film "Kon-Tiki" (2012)
Not all feature films about the sea, about the ships that can interest the audience are named above. “Kon-Tiki” is a historical drama whose plot is borrowed from real life. The focus is on the feat of the famous traveler Tour Heyerdahl, who in 1947 managed to undertake an incredible sea expedition.
Spectators will be able to watch the battles with bloodthirsty sharks, the struggle with the elements at stake of which is human life. Heroes will have to gather all their courage in order to achieve their goal and return home. Of course, people who have been on the verge of death will never be the same.
The Perfect Storm movie (2000)
The action-packed drama "Perfect Storm" will appeal not only to fans of George Clooney, who brilliantly played a key role. This picture can be recommended to everyone who likes dynamic films about the sea and ships. The adventures of heroes who were not lucky to become toys of the sea element will not allow you to tear yourself away from the screen to the very end.
The disaster film is also interesting because it is based on real events. The story that it describes really took place in 1991. The Atlantic coast of the United States fell under the control of a Halloween storm, and the Andrea Gale fishing vessel was at the epicenter of the storm. Unfortunately, the story ended tragically.
The film "Water World" (1995)
What else is definitely worth watching movies about the sea and ships? The adventures described in the fantastic action movie "Water World" are unlikely to impress fans of action-packed films. Actor Kevin Costner brilliantly coped with the main role.
Events unfold in a world in which the apocalypse has come. Global warming has caused land to disappear. The few lucky ones who were fortunate enough to stay alive are forced to plow through the expanses of water and fight for fresh water, which has become of great value. Everywhere, gangs of dangerous criminals who don’t put human life in anything are operating. However, people believe in the existence of the island, which can be reached by a tattoo card made on the back of a child. Of course, absolutely everyone dreams of capturing the girl and using her to get to the ground.
Scary movie
The film "Ghost Ship" (2002) will appeal to everyone who is attracted to horrors. Events take place in a remote area of the Bering Sea. It all starts with the fact that the rescue team finds the remains of a large passenger airliner. For more than forty years this ship has been missing, as well as all those who traveled on it.
Rescuers make their way aboard the ship lying at the bottom, not even imagining what a fatal mistake they are making. People are forced to face the mysterious past of the passenger liner, which causes them horror. They will have a battle, on the results of which depends on whether they can survive. The film "Ghost Ship" (2002) keeps the audience in suspense right up to the final credits, which allowed him to gain great popularity at the time.
What else to see
There are other intriguing and trembling tapes that tell the story of a sunken ship, for example, the painting “The Bermuda Triangle” (2005) deserves attention. Billionaire Eric Beniroll wants to find out the fate of his ship, which disappeared near the Bermuda Triangle. To do this, he hires a team of specialists who must go in search of him. The desired goal already seems close when the detachment is faced with abnormal phenomena. After that, the crew has only one task - to avoid death.
One cannot fail to mention the painting “The Ship of Death” (1980), recalling interesting films about ships and the sea.
