The domestic series "Death to Spies", released on screens in 2012, has become exciting and quite realistic for many viewers. It consists of several films: “Shock Wave”, “Fox Hole”, “Hidden Enemy” and “Crimea”.
And there was a war in the rear
In the first two films, the main character is the young lieutenant of SMERSH Andrey Terekhov performed by Pavel Trubiner. All the actors of the series “Death to Spies” are organic in every movement, facial expression, look throughout the film. If you do not pay attention to some cinematic blunders, then the film is dynamic and does not release the viewer's attention to the very end.
In the first film, "Death to Spies. The Shock Wave", the main character is introduced, who begins to study the person of a simple school watchman, Veniamin Shubnikov. It is not in vain that they are interested in him, because he is a former nuclear physicist, whom the German special services began to hunt for.
Events unfold in 1943 in the liberated Belarus and partly Ukraine. The film tells about the work of Soviet counterintelligence. Difficult work is to be done to introduce his agent in the frontline zone of the enemy with the goal of destroying a uranium boiler, which can change world history in an instant, and while it is preparing by the German command for urgent evacuation from the front zone.
As always, our heroes are accompanied by love, unfortunately, not always with a happy ending.
The shooting of all four episodes took place in Minsk and its environs, so the actors of the series "Death to Spies" were a little easier to live their roles.
A little closer to victory ...
In the second film (Death to Spies. The Fox Hole), the action takes place already in 1944, far from the front line. The sabotage German group managed to capture a briefcase with plans for the offensive of the Rokossovsky army. And this is on the eve of the big offensive on the Western Front! Actors of the series "Death to Spies" conveyed the heat of a real battle of professionals. In the second half of World War II, it was precisely in the rear that inconspicuous, but no less significant events took place more often than at the front line.
Both the hero of Pavel Trubiner and his friend, Lieutenant Mokrousov performed by Anatoly Rudenko, were perfectly written by the scriptwriters. Absolutely believable and not only positive heroes make them believe in their sincerity. German saboteurs performed by the actors of the series “Death to Spies” Igor Sigov, Karl Achleitner, Jean-Marc Birkholz, Manfred Frau were able to inspire respect and make even friends be suspected of betrayal.
Worth a look
This is a great series to watch as a family. There are no special effects, battle scenes, hand-to-hand fights are perfectly staged. An intriguing plot, the denouement of which is understandable only in the last 20-30 minutes. And again, the love drama of Andrei Terekhov.
An excellent tandem of screenwriter Vladimir Chebotarev and director Alexander Daruga presented the audience with a good quality military series.
And while 90% of everything in the plot is fiction, it is important that heroes appear on the screens who are not indifferent to the concepts of Homeland and Fidelity. These are great professionals with human feelings. But there are such among our contemporaries. One has only to take a closer look.
