The domestic series incorporated several components: this is not just the story of the 70s that grew into the beginning of modern Russia, but the story of the difficult, truly dramatic fate of the main characters, who find themselves at the epicenter of political and public passions. The whole story turned into a psychological drama, subtle and, as the audience noted, incredibly deep, like Palm Sunday became. The actors of the series coped with the tasks assigned to them. They all played different, but such familiar characters of the last decades of the last century, in which many critics found a reliable reflection of history.
The story of a deprived girl will not leave anyone indifferent
The main character, around whom the plot is built, is registered as an exceptionally bright person, which the authors probably put emphasis on. The stories of deprived people often became the key narrative of many films. The fate of a simple girl could not but interest the audience of the series “Palm Sunday”. The actors played very well. In particular, the leading actor Svetlana Ivanova perfectly conveyed the true tragedy of the broken life of Oksana Lepina, which won the hearts of the audience. Judge for yourself: Oksana, who does not have her own home, lives in a rented apartment, generously provided by her mentor and teacher Pavel Golovina. The girl herself is a budding ballerina, in whom the grandson of a government official Arthur Nikitin falls in love. Having received a refusal from her, the guy rapes Lepin, and then persuades his comrades Margot and Alexei to give false testimonies so that Oksana goes to jail. In return, they receive state awards and titles. But Oksana, having given birth to a daughter in prison, named after Pavel, dies during childbirth. Oksana Lepin was played by Svetlana Ivanova, practically her same age, which did not create additional difficulties for the actress in the issue of getting used to the role. On the contrary, according to Ivanova, this image she considers the most powerful and dramatic of all that she played before. For a native of Moscow, the career of the actress began with the series “The Godfather”, in which Svetlana starred when she was 18 years old. The first viewer recognition came with the release of the military film “Franz + Pauline”, awarded at many film festivals. This was followed by the series “And Still, I Love”, which finally consolidated the status of a modern dramatic actress for Ivanova. Among the most famous works of Svetlana are the tapes “House of the Sun”, “The Dark World in 3D”, “August. Eighth. ” In 2014, she was especially remembered for her role as an obstetrician-gynecologist in the series “Pregnancy Test”.
Arthur Nikitin, the main antagonist of the series, the grandson of a member of the Politburo, who in the 90s becomes an oligarch and meets with the daughter of the main character, was played by Dmitry Dyuzhev. This artist does not need an introduction - fame came after the famous “Brigade”, where he fit into the four friends. In 2005, another criminal story followed - “Zhmurki”. Dyuzhev skillfully transforms into Job's father in Ostrov, a former police officer in Strictly Vacation Vacations, and the first pregnant man in the comedy of the same name. At the moment, Dmitry remains a sought-after actor.

- Alexey (Yuri Baturin). A dancer who had a hand in order to get rid of Oksana together with Margot and Arthur.
- Gennady Nikitin (Oleg Basilashvili). Politburo member, grandfather of Arthur, who is trying to protect him.

In search of the truth
Made by talented people, this series looks interesting because the creators tried in many ways to recall the history of our country: political parties, the simple life of the Soviet people and creative people, their own concerns related to the profession and the influence of government officials on their fate. The search for truth, which is the final chord, forces us to search for answers according to our own views and beliefs. An exceptionally good impression was left by Palm Sunday. The series, whose actors captured the audience’s attention with brilliant images, was the best project of 2009, “flying” in the same breath.
