Over her entire tennis career, Ekaterina Makarova managed to become one of the best racquets in the world and give a record series of eight consecutive wins, leaving other eminent tennis players on the other side of the court. At the moment, she occupies a leading position in the world ranking and each time only improves her results.

Childhood and youth

Ekaterina Makarova was born on June 7, 1988, in a family where no one had ever been involved in sports. Catherine's mom was a housewife, and her father was a bank employee.

Parents decided to give tennis to Makarov when she was 6 years old. Together with a girlfriend, they were recorded in the local section at the Luzhniki club, where they first went to the tennis court.

According to other sources, Ekaterina got into the sport thanks to family friends who gave her a tennis racket on one of the holidays. After leaving school, Catherine had a difficult choice - to give herself to sports or go to university to become a designer. Since my mother taught her daughter all kinds of needlework all her life, this lesson was seriously attracted to the future tennis player.

While studying at Makarov University, tennis was inseparable, and therefore, even in difficult periods, the girl did not quit sports and devoted all her free time to hobby. When the time came to choose the continuation of life between tennis and design, Makarova leaves the university and is fully committed to sports.

The first major tournament for Makarova was the junior championship, where she made her debut in 2002. A year later, Katya was able to enter the top 50 best tennis players of her age. In 2004, she reached the semifinals of the Orange Bowl international tournament, which was held in America.

In 2005, Ekaterina Makarova surprised many when she was able to reach the quarter finals of the competition in Wimbledon, beating the famous Slovak athlete Yarmila Wolfe. In the same year, together with her colleague Alla Kudryavtseva, Makarova took the first serious trophy, having won the European Championship. In 2006, Katya decided to end her career in the junior category as the 20th racket of the world.

Adult career

Makarov took her first steps in adult tennis on an increasing basis. In 2006, the Russian woman managed to win four trophies in competitions under the auspices of ITF and end the season at the 150th line in the world ranking. Just a year later, Makarova was able to strengthen her leading position and reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in Torrent. A little later, in the wake of this success, the tennis player entered the main round of the Women's Tennis Association, which was held in Los Angeles.

In 2007, Ekaterina Makarova for the first time in her life got to the Grand Slam tournament, where she was able to reach only the third round.

Thanks to the victory in the Grand Slam tournament, Catherine was able to finish the season on the 20th line.

In 2011, Makarova remained in the top twenty tennis players, but during the season she sank lower and lower, being on the 60th line. But bright victories at tournaments in Miami and Madrid allowed her to return to the leading position.

In 2013, Catherine receives a hand injury and misses half the season. After recovery, she, along with Elena Vesnina, reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, and after a couple of months she won the Grand Slam at all. These incredible successes allowed Katya to feel comfortable in the company of the ten best rackets in the world.

Since 2014, Makarova has not had a season that she would have completed without a title. Every year she improves her results. At the moment, in the world ranking, she takes third place in doubles and 11th among single athletes.

Ekaterina Makarova is not married, but at the moment she has a young man, with whom she does not expose relations, wanting to keep her personal life secret.
