“The smell of heather” (2013 release) is an interesting and informative film. His main moral message is easy enough to read: what is important is always in the first place. It is not overshadowed by that which is illusory and secondary.
The main thing is to correctly prioritize. The film with complex overtones has a fairly straightforward storyline, according to which the average
network administrator lives on the hell on his fingers in a regular apartment in the company of a
red cat. Every day he gets to work in a train full of people. Listens to music and loves to ride around the city on a skateboard. He works in a small company, there are a myriad of similar ones in Moscow.
Nathanael, just such an unusual name for the hero, is practically not interested in the life around him, spending all his time in the vast expanses of the Internet. The main character does not pay much attention to any of the colleagues, although one of the employees is in love with him. She constantly feeds him pies. But one day he meets an unusual girl named Nastya. She is a student at a technology college. Only there is one “but”, because the heroine lives in faraway Massachusetts. First, the correspondence of lovers begins as if it were no binding communication, but over time, Nathanael realizes that there is undoubtedly a lot in common between them. After all, it was about this beauty that he dreamed of, represented her in his dreams. And now the guy sincerely believes that only she alone understands him in the whole Universe.
Once Nastya informs him that he will soon be passing through the Siberian city of Biysk. Immediately Nathan abandons all his affairs and work. He flies there. On the way, he gets into absolutely incredible adventures, meets interesting people. And as a result, the main character finds himself in a wonderful and absolutely far from reality world, which is filled with silence, calmness and the smell of heather. Here, all the blessings of modernity, including the Internet, are completely absent, but you can calmly and measuredly talk, lie down among aromatic herbs and quietly noisy tall pines.
He could not see Nastya there, but he fell in love with the amazing smell of heather. Detachment from the bustle will significantly change the worldview of a young man. After returning to Moscow, Nathan will no longer be able to find out, because he will have his own opinion, principles and position in life. The hero is hard to forget the favorite smell of heather.
And what about love? And then fate makes adjustments to his plans, because the truly necessary and important person will always be with you, even if you could not see him. Most importantly, they are not afraid to open their feelings and overcome all obstacles to a meeting. And after a declaration of love, Nathan with horror learns that he won a grant for free education at the University of Massachusetts and a prize of 20 thousand dollars. But at what cost? And what should he do now? Remember the smell of heather and understand that all his feelings are just a toy for researchers, and the ideal girl simply does not exist? Is life ruined and nothing can be changed?
The film "The smell of heather" really makes empathy with the heroes. Especially exciting is the moment when Nathan stands on the bridge and decides to commit suicide. And still, we subconsciously await the good end of the film, because it is impossible for the hero to be so unlucky. Chaotic emotions, contradictory actions, a mixed aftertaste, not just disappointment, but hopelessness ... Pessimists under twenty are not recommended for viewing, and after thirty they should not be watched - they don’t catch.
