main character
Many science fiction fans appreciated the work of Sigourney Weaver in the film "Aliens" (1986). Actors and especially the key actress managed to create vivid and memorable images. Ellen Ripley played in the first picture, where she was an officer of the ship "Nostromo", carrying out the transportation of cargo and received a distress signal from an unknown planet. According to the policy of the company for which the members of the space expedition worked, they were obliged to respond and check who needs help. The captain decides to change the route and land on a mysterious planet. This choice became fatal - the perfect extraterrestrial organism living here, the Alien, destroyed the whole team, only Ripley managed to survive.
In the second part, a woman who was in a lifeboat and immersed in sleep is discovered after more than 50 years. The world, known to Ripley, has changed, her daughter died of old age, considering her mother missing. To her horror, the woman learns that the planet on which they found the Alien's eggs is now inhabited: colonists with families have been assimilating on it for several months.
When they do not get in touch, the management of the company that Ripley worked for decides to fly to the planet to find out what happened. The woman could not forget the nightmare, she constantly has terrible dreams. Therefore, she agrees to re-visit the terrible planet, but with the condition that the monster will be destroyed.
Android
We continue to consider the actors and the roles of the film “Aliens” (1986). The audience remembered the character of Lance Hanrisken, the android Bishop. His relationship with Ripley was first strained: remembering her unsuccessful experience with an artificial person in the first part, the woman was distrustful of Bishop aboard the spacecraft and was very indignant that she was not warned about the robot.
However, Ripley gradually begins to trust the android, who decided to risk himself to save the surviving crew. As Bishop said, he is synthetic, but not a fool, so he does not want to die. However, the programmed desire to serve people made him sacrifice himself.
Newt
Rebecca Jordan or Newt, a six-year-old girl who managed to survive hiding from Aliens in the ventilation shafts, is one of the most interesting characters in the picture. Her role went to Kerry Hann, who at that time was 9 years old.
Burke
Carter Burke, (played by Paul Riser) - Wayland company manager, careerist and hypocrite. It was he who invaded Ripley's trust and tricked her. Burke initially knew that there was a hostile life on the planet where the colonists were sent, but he was willing to risk hundreds of people to create powerful weapons. Later, the character did his best to prevent the destruction of Aliens and take out the samples, substituting the lives of Ripley and Newt. He was killed by a xenomorph.
Officers
Other actors in the movie Alien (1986) are less known:
- The role of the commander of the unit aimed at the planet to fight alien evil, Scott Gorman is played by William Hope, who at that time was 31 years old. The actor is known to the viewer for his work in the films "Hellraiser 2", "Gloomy Shadows", "Glass House". The image of Gorman, an inexperienced novice who is not ready to make decisions in an extreme situation, was created expertly. The soldiers do not love and respect him, but in the end the lieutenant sacrifices himself, invoking a grenade and giving the survivors the opportunity to escape.
- Corporal Higgs, whose role was played by Michael Bean, is characterized by a calm disposition, prudence and the ability to make decisions. It was he who was given command after Gorman lost consciousness. Listening to Ripley's opinion, Higgs agrees to blow up the planet in order to destroy the Alien. Corporal, along with the main character and girl Rebecca, managed to survive after a deadly battle with the monster.
- Eupon, the sergeant played by Al Matthews, was a foot soldier before becoming an actor. In his character, he invested some traits of his own character.
These military officers, with the exception of Higgs, died in the battle with the xenomorphs.
Privates
The film “Aliens” (1986) is distinguished by a large number of bright secondary characters, many of which are remembered by the audience:
- Temperamental Vasquez, whose role was brilliantly performed by Janett Goldsteen, is distinguished by courage and fearlessness.
- Drake, an ordinary soldier played by Mark Rolston, has a friendship with Vasquez.
- Frost, played by Ricco Ross, had a sense of humor, was sociable and friendly. An interesting fact: actor Ross initially auditioned for the role of Hicks, but did not receive it. However, his work impressed Cameron so much that he specially invented the character and included it in the plot.
- Hudson, whose role was played by Bill Paxton, is distinguished by arrogance and pride, but at the same time he is a good specialist. In one of the episodes, realizing that they are doomed, he falls into hysteria, but quickly calms down.
Some actors in the movie Aliens (1986) played characters who were killed almost immediately:
- Trevor Steadman played the role of Verzhbovsky, a private soldier who died in the first battle with alien monsters.
- Crowe, played by Tip Tipp, was one of the first soldiers to die in a battle with xenomorphs. For the entire film, the hero uttered only a single phrase.
- Ferro (actress Collet Filler), the co-pilot of the ship, died when the Alien got on board. Death remained behind the scenes.
These characters are not key, but without their participation the picture would lose the illusion of authenticity.
Colonists
The actors of "Aliens" in 1986, who played the colonists, most likely, were little remembered by the audience. So, Holly de Jong played the role of Newt’s mother, Anne Jordan, who died during the xenomorph attack. Her wife, Russ Jordan (actor - Jay Benedict) can only be seen in a special version of the picture.
