Useful tips on what temperature to bring down an adult

When do I need to bring down the temperature? Elevated body temperature is a phenomenon that has been repeatedly encountered by every person throughout his life. At the same time, most people have one predictable reaction in their behavior - the increased temperature at all costs needs to be reduced, and without accurate knowledge of what temperature an adult needs to be knocked down. But is that right? The answer to this question requires a careful study of medical opinion and the individual cause of the temperature increase.

Factors contributing to fever

In order to know what temperature you need to bring down, it is important to remember that the temperature balance is affected by:

  • bacteria and viruses that enter the body;
  • allergic conditions;
  • hormonal disorders;
  • the presence of an inflammatory process;
  • bleeding
  • heatstroke.

In each listed case (and this is not a complete list), temperature fluctuations are a sign of the immune system, its response to a violation of homeostasis. And the discovery of a catalyst that caused a similar reaction will tell you what temperature an adult needs to bring down.

Normalization of thermoregulation

Before you sound the alarm and inspect the first-aid kit, you need to trace the temperature dynamics, i.e. measure temperature fluctuations about half an hour after the first messenger of the increase and again twenty minutes later. In the intervals between measurements, it is better to take off warm (excess) clothing, ventilate the room, drink a glass of water (lack of moisture in the body also activates the immune system).

But even if the measures taken did not have a beneficial effect, and the elevated temperature persists and / or continues to rise, do not rush with medication. Only when overcoming the mark of 38.0-38.2 degrees there comes the moment when you need to bring down the temperature.

How to lower the temperature

Even from his parents, a person receives simple recipes for normalizing body temperature. They contain both folk remedies and the use of products of pharmacological companies. The first include the intake of herbal supplements that enhance sweating, and rubbing. Of the healthy herbal drinks noted:

  • tea with linden blossom ;
  • tea with raspberries;
  • tea with lemon;
  • juices of red currant and lingonberry;
  • rosehip broth.

All fluids are supposed to be drunk warm, not trying to provoke the appearance of sweat with hot water. At the same time you should start wiping. Water of room temperature is suitable for them . Avoid adding vodka or vinegar to the water, as was previously common, so as not to cause an allergic skin reaction. You need to wipe as necessary, depending on what temperature you need to bring down an adult. After wiping, you do not need to wipe with a towel; it is important to wait for the natural evaporation of moisture.

Of course, this method of normalizing the heat balance is suitable at any elevated temperature, but if the thermometer exceeds 39.0 degrees, antipyretic intervention is required. The most famous drugs of this kind are paracetamol and ibuprofen, and many of the advertised products are created on their basis (for example, Nurofen, Teraflu). It is supposed to take them strictly in accordance with the attached annotation, carefully observing the time intervals, regardless of what temperature an adult needs to be knocked down.

Self-treatment is acceptable at the beginning of malaise and only if there is a tendency to recovery. In cases of maintaining elevated temperature for three days or more, you should seek specialized medical help and, possibly, take tests.
