Modern design decisions are sometimes very simple. One of them is a principle that does not imply the creation of new weapons, but the modernization of existing models that have worked well. One of the favorite pistols that have been experimented with for more than a dozen years is PM ( Makarov's pistol ). It has been in service with the Russian army and special services since 1951. Despite the fact that it was developed in Soviet times, its combat and operational characteristics are in demand today. Moreover, progress does not stand still, and the new developments based on it take into account the experience of not only domestic but also foreign gunsmiths. A classic example of such a weapon is the IZH-71 service pistol developed on the basis of PM.
History of creation
The IZH-71 pistol was developed by the designers of the Izhevsk arms factory based on PM in 1994. Everything original is simple - this is an alteration of the aforementioned PM under the Browning cartridge, which is accepted as standard in a number of European states (Sweden, Italy, Czech Republic). This automatically implied the possibility of selling the gun for export. But the initial task that the designers set themselves was to create a service pistol for employees of private security structures. The requirements for this type of weapon differ from the combat one. It is used to protect natural resources, private property, life and health of other people.
And the IZH-71 pistol, whose characteristics approximately correspond to the PM, really met the necessary conditions. However, in 2006, the government attempted to remove him from the security structures. The reason for this was that, according to the Federal Law on Weapons, the weapons used by state militarized structures cannot be armed with PSCs. And the IZH-71 pistol was adopted by the Federal Service of Bailiffs. Despite these problems, the gun still serves various security agencies and companies. In this field of activity, he has established himself more than well.
Pistol advantages
Like any other weapon, the IL-71 pistol , the device of which roughly corresponds to the PM pistol, has its advantages. And the advantages of these two pistols are almost the same. The gun is reliable and convenient, it can easily be put into a fighting position. This is facilitated by a special self-cocking - you can carry out the first shot without first cocking the trigger. In addition, it is characterized by the simplicity of the device, low weight, small size. All this allows you to comfortably wear it under clothes. Also outwardly it is almost impossible to distinguish from PM.
With all this, IZH-71 still has differences from the Makarov pistol. First of all, this is the type of cartridge used, but there are smaller differences. It has a lower muzzle velocity, this meets the requirements for security weapons. It should have restrictions that relate to the firing range, caliber, as well as the damaging factor. The characteristics of IZH-71 almost do not differ from PM, which allows it to be used more efficiently.
The principle of the gun
Automation weapons operates on the principle of recoil free shutter, which is not coupled to the barrel. However, when firing, the bolt reliably locks the barrel due to its large mass and a strong return spring.
The design of the trigger mechanism, as already mentioned, allows you to immediately open fire by pressing the trigger. This is possible thanks to the trigger type mechanism.
Security
The IZH-71 pistol has reliable fuses. So, in addition to the standard fuse, which is located on the left side of the gun, there are also additional means of protection against accidental firing. After the shot has been fired, the trigger is automatically placed on the safety cock if the trigger is released.

Structurally, a weapon consists of the following parts:
- the pistol frame includes a barrel and a trigger guard;
- a bolt, the design of which also includes an ejector, a hammer and a fuse;
- trigger mechanism;

How weapons work
To fire a shot, you need to press the trigger with your finger. In this case, the hammer hits the hammer, which breaks the cartridge capsule. Because of this, the main powder charge ignites, and the bullet leaves the bore under the influence of powder gases.
The same gases, escaping from the bottom of the sleeve, act on the shutter. He steps back while squeezing the return spring and hooking the sleeve with the ejector. Along the shutter path, the reflector throws the spent sleeve through a special window in the shutter. When the bolt reaches its extreme rear position, it cranks the trigger on the trunnions and puts it back on the combat platoon. Then the return spring begins to unclench and moves the bolt forward. During its advancement, the next cartridge hooks onto the rammer and enters the chamber. All parts returned to their original position and the gun is ready to shoot again.
To shoot again, you need to release the trigger, and then press it again. Thus, the firing of the Izh-71 pistol is carried out until the cartridges run out in the store. After that, the shutter is delayed and remains in its extreme rear position until recharged.
Weapon Maintenance and Care
Like any other mechanism, the gun must be cleaned and lubricated regularly. Failure to follow these procedures can damage the gun, and delays or misfires will occur during firing.
One of the prerequisites for leaving is disassembling weapons. In the case of IL-71, this is especially true. The IZH-71 pistol, whose characteristics, although they remain at a high level, still requires maintenance. It is possible to carry out both complete and incomplete disassembly. Its first type is intended for cleaning weapons if they have been exposed to severe pollution and were exposed to rain and snow. Also, complete disassembly should be carried out during lubrication, repair. But you need to remember that such a procedure is often not recommended, as this wears out the details of the product.
Incomplete disassembly of the IZH-71 gun is necessary for lubricating, cleaning and inspecting the gun. As in that, and in another case, certain conditions are necessary for the implementation - a clean surface (bench, table) or at least a litter. When disassembling, the parts are laid out in the order of removal, they must be handled with care and not allowed to fall or hit. You also need to follow the numbering so as not to confuse them with parts of another gun.
The order of incomplete disassembly of the gun:
- removing the store from the handle;
- separation of the bolt from the pistol frame;
- Removing the return spring from the barrel.
The gun is assembled in the reverse order. After it is implemented, it is necessary to verify its correctness. An improperly assembled gun can be a threat not only to other people, but first of all to its owner. Therefore, after the pistol is assembled, the following actions are performed - the fuse is turned off by moving its flag down. After that, the shutter is automatically set to the shutter lag. It is turned off and the shutter returns to its normal position. In this case, the trigger must remain at the cocking level. Then the fuse is turned on. In this case, the trigger should immediately break from the fighting position and lock. If this does not happen. the weapons are not assembled correctly, and reassembly-disassembly is necessary.
