The modern school has a great responsibility not only for the education of the younger generation, but also for its upbringing and development. These processes are most often carried out through extra-curricular activities. The teacher should make a clear plan and follow it.
Biology lessons
Biology as a discipline contributes to the formation of a comprehensively developed personality. In lessons, practical and laboratory classes, students gain knowledge about the surrounding wildlife. During the biology education period, children are educated in aesthetic tastes, love of nature, and patriotic feelings.
All extracurricular activities in biology, in addition to fulfilling their main goal - the incentive to study this subject - should contribute to the development of a number of other functions:
- the ability to apply the acquired knowledge;
- the development of creative activity of students;
- fostering love and respect for all life on earth;
- the ability to see the beautiful in the ordinary.
Most often, extracurricular activities are timed to coincide with a particular holiday. The following items are suitable for the subject “Biology”: “Health Day”, “Biology Week”, “Garden Week”, etc.
The teacher speaks at the pedagogical council with a proposal to conduct activities in his subject. If the teaching staff approves them, then they will be included in the plan of school-wide extracurricular activities. And from this moment it is already possible to begin preparations for them.
To prepare an extra-curricular event in biology, it takes more than one day of painstaking and thorough work of a teacher, to which students will later be connected.
Biology event preparation
Before starting the process of preparing the event, the teacher must decide on the purpose of the event, then formulate the tasks and determine the age category of students for whom this topic will be most relevant.
In view of the foregoing, the subject teacher chooses the form of the exercise. Extracurricular activities in biology can be implemented in the following forms:

There are two conditions under which an extracurricular event can become unique:

Students themselves prepare their speeches on the topic proposed by the subject teacher, which contributes to the development of cognitive interest, the study of additional literature on the subject in order to deepen existing knowledge.
A biology teacher is appointed as the leader, he is also responsible for organizing and conducting the event. Teachers in related subjects (in this case, teachers of geography and chemistry), as well as class teachers, are most often appointed as members of the jury. In addition to adults, the jury must necessarily include children with fairly good knowledge in the field of biology.
But what KVN without spectators and support groups? This role is assigned to all interested students of the school.
Fifth grade. Attract attention!
Biology, in fact, as a subject, the guys begin to study in the fifth grade. The section of this science, which falls on grades 5-6, is botany. Not for all children it is of interest, and besides, the number of lessons stipulated by the planning is one hour per week. Therefore, in order to attract children's attention to the subject, it is advisable to use extracurricular activities. At the initial stage of the study, the following forms of conducting are considered winning:
- The hours of entertaining biology, under this generalized name, you can safely carry out extracurricular activities for any research (experiments, laboratory studies), using natural material (leaves and flowers) collected in the summer-autumn period, you can attract children to create pictures.
- The quiz is an extracurricular event. Biology as an object provides the laying of basic concepts on which all further study will be based. To check how successfully the process of assimilation of information proceeds, the quiz form fits perfectly.
- Mind games. They can be carried out based on television broadcasts, the rules of which children are well aware of - this is “One against all”, “Clever men and smart girls”, etc.
The teacher must remember that it is necessary to instill love for your subject from the very beginning, prompting children to self-development. Extracurricular activities will help in this. Events (Grade 5, "Biology" - the subject under consideration) will help to interest children in the initial stages.
How to create a script
Any mass event requires a script. Its spelling depends on many factors:
- age of students;
- knowledge of the subject;
- venue
- the number of people involved.
The scenario of extracurricular activities in biology must necessarily include an educational part. Therefore, all contests included in it, blitz polls should be related to biology.
As part of the development of the educational process, integrated lessons appeared , which contributed to the creation of integrated extracurricular activities. The teacher must conduct an analysis of the extra-curricular activities in biology twice: in one case, it is a debriefing with the children, and in the second, the self-assessment of the organizing teacher.
