One of the important indicators when buying both household appliances and any other household or other goods is the period of its warranty service, during which the manufacturer undertakes to make a free repair in case of any defects or breakdowns. As a rule, in our country the warranty repair period is approximately 1 year from the date of purchase of the goods. It should be noted that some manufacturers of goods indicate on the coupon that warranty repairs are possible only if the goods are purchased exclusively from official distributors of the company. That is why it is not recommended to buy household appliances on the market from ordinary retailers.
Usually, warranty service is carried out by a specialized service center that has certain authority to carry out repair and restoration work. Such a center can serve several brands of a certain type of equipment or have a specification of any one brand. So, for example, the service center of the South Korean company LG will be able to service all types of its equipment, from refrigerators and washing machines to blenders, dishwashers and so on. The maximum warranty period for repair and maintenance of computer equipment, including prefabricated system units and laptops, is usually 2 years.
When buying goods, you should carefully study the warranty card, especially those conditions that relate to the manufacturer's refusal of their services. The fact is that each company establishes its list of conditions under which if it is not respected, it has every right to refuse free service. In most cases, the reason for this is a violation of the terms of use of the goods.
So, the manufacturer has the right to refuse to fulfill its obligations, even if the warranty period has not yet expired, in the following cases:
- The absence of a coupon upon or incorrect filling out (there is no seller’s signature, seal, date of sale and serial number).
- The product has mechanical damage.
- Foreign objects were found inside the product, indicating an external interference with the device.
- If it turns out that the damage occurred due to violations of the product’s operating conditions.
- The product has damaged seals.
- Excess moisture was detected inside the product.
All of the above indicates that the warranty repair period is not an unconditional guarantee of free repair of the goods in case of damage. It should also be understood that the warranty period is set by the manufacturer in order to correct those defects that could arise during the assembly of the product. A certain percentage of defective products always takes place, and it is for such cases that the manufacturer provides warranty service.
The procedure for filling out warranty certificates may vary depending on the requirements of a particular manufacturer. However, in addition to this, the general procedure is also regulated by the internal law of the state where the goods are sold. For example, in our country the conditions for filling out guarantee certificates and its obligatory clauses are spelled out in the law of the Russian Federation “On the Protection of Consumer Rights”, where the warranty periods under the law are as follows fields to fill:
- product model;
- Name of product;
- product serial number;
- warranty card number;
- date of filling out the coupon and date of sale of the product;
- signature of the seller and seal of the company;
- some information about the buyer (name, address).
Thus, summing up all of the above, we can say that the warranty repair period is an important parameter by which you can not only ensure your right to receive quality goods, but also make sure that the manufacturer has a good faith attitude to the manufactured goods.
