The animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender", whose characters will be considered by us in this article, was first released in 2005. The animated television series combines American animation, anime style and Oriental culture.
The action of the animated series takes place in a fictional universe, where some people are able to control one of the four natural elements (fire, air, water, earth). Directly in the center of the plot is a 12-year-old air mage and his friends.
The animated series was an incredible success and was nominated for many awards, including: "Annie", "Emmy", Genesis Awards, etc.
Aang
It’s better to start talking with the main character, although the list of characters (“Avatar: The Last Airbender”) is quite impressive. Aang is the last airbender and representative of the Air Nomad people. His nation was destroyed 100 years ago by the People of Fire. Aang is an Avatar - a magician who is able to use all four elements of the elements and who must maintain peace among all nations. The people of Fire wanted to destroy the Avatar, so he attacked the air magicians, among whom he was to be born. Fortunately, shortly before this, Aang escaped from his mentors and accidentally froze in the ice of the iceberg, where he spent 100 years. All these years in the world did not stop the predatory war of the People of Fire, who wanted to subjugate all the lands around him.
Aang was accidentally found in the ice of Qatar and Sokka, water tribe children. After awakening, the young Avatar realized that he had to fulfill his duty to stop the war, but first he needed to master all kinds of magic. About how the training of Aang took place, and whether he was able to stop the People of Fire and is told in the animated series.
Qatar
Qatar is one of the key characters in the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender (whose characters are discussed here). At the time the cartoon begins, the girl turns 14 years old. She is from the Southern Tribe of Water, the daughter of the leader of Hakoda. Qatar is the last water mage on the entire South Pole, the rest were taken and imprisoned by soldiers of the People of Fire. At the hands of the invaders, her mother also died when Qatar was only 8 years old. Then the soldiers of the People of Fire learned that a water mage had appeared in the Southern Tribe, and came for him. But the mother of Qatar defended her daughter, calling herself the last water mage, for which she was killed.
Due to the fact that the war between the Tribe of Water and the People of Fire did not stop, the men of the tribe often left to fight, and then the leader’s children — Qatar and her brother Sokka — were responsible for the welfare of the tribe.
During one of the walks, Qatar and Sokka found an ice sphere in which Avatar Aang was imprisoned. This event dramatically changes the life of a brother and sister.
Sokka
Sokka is the elder brother of Qatar and one of Aang’s companions, the main character of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
"How to draw characters?" - if you are asking this question, you first need to find out about the character of the hero, and then proceed directly to the image. So, to draw Sokka, you need to remember that he is a big joker and very often finds himself in stupid situations, although he is endowed with a good tactical mind. Therefore, it can be depicted by drawing up an attack plan.
So, Sokka is a warrior of the Southern Tribe of Water. At the time the animated series began, he lives with his younger sister Qatar and grandmother Kannah. When the leader of the tribe and father Sokki led the soldiers against the fiery invaders, he left his son for the elder. So Sokka was responsible not only for providing the tribe with food, but also for teaching children the art of war.
When Qatar and Sokka found Aang, Sokka did not immediately believe the air mage. At first, he was sure that he was a spy of the People of Fire.
Toph
The list of characters in the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is continued by Toph Beifong. She is the only child of a noble family of the kingdom of the Earth. Toph was born blind, so she was always considered helpless, surrounded by attention and care. But the independent character of the girl was disgusted by such custody. Toph independently studied the magic of the earth, thanks to which she was able to see the world around her. Later, she began to secretly run away from home and participate in the battles of the earth mages. In the arena, she bore the nickname "Blind Bandit." It was in these battles that Aang and his friends first saw her.
When Toph met Avatvr and decided to become his teacher, she ran away from home. The Bayfongs were sent to chase the earth magicians for their daughter, who managed to catch her and lock her in a metal box, where she could not use her strength. However, being locked up, Toph was able to subjugate the metal and free herself. So she became the first metal mage in the world.
Characters of the cartoon "Avatar: The Last Airbender": Appa and Momo
Appa and Momo are the constant companions of Avatar and his friends. They deserve special mention.
Appa is a flying bison and guardian beast of Aang. When the air mage reaches the age of 6 years, he goes to the East Temple of the Air, where he finds a bison, which will become his companion and friend. So Appa became Aang's friend, and when the Avatar was frozen, the bison was with him. Appa is not only a companion of Aang and his friends, but also the main means of transportation, as it is endowed with air magic and can fly.
Momo is the winged lemur that Aang found in the South Temple of Air. From this time, Momo became a companion of Avatar. He is the only lemur in the animated series, so there is an opinion that he is the last of his kind. Unlike Appa, who always understands human speech, Momo, when the animators portray the world with his eyes, hears only inaudible murmurs. Because of this, he often gets into various troubles. Nevertheless, the lemur is very devoted to Aang and is ready to help him even in battles.
Zuko
There are also controversial characters in the cartoon "Avatar: The Legend of the Aang." The characters in the series are not all divided into positive and negative. So Zuko, the prince of the People of Fire, first appears as an enemy of the Avatar, and then joins him and becomes his teacher of Fire magic.
Zuko can easily be recognized by the scar surrounding the left eye, which remained after the burn. The boy received this mark after he refused to fight with his father in the ritual duel of Angi Kai. After this event, Zuko was expelled by his father, the Master of Fire Ozay, from the land of Fire.
In order to restore his honor and return, Zuko decides to find an Avatar that disappeared a hundred years ago. For the crown prince, this journey will change his whole life and lead him to come out against his family, taking the side of Aang.
Iro
The scriptwriters of the animated series Avatar: Legend of the Airanga approached the creation of heroes seriously. The biography of the characters, not even the main ones, is spelled out very well. So, for example, Iro, uncle Zuko and brother of Ozai have a very interesting and even tragic past.
Initially, Iro was the heir to the Master of Fire by birthright. He had the only son, Lu Ten, who died very young. A little later, Ayro's father also died. And then Ozai ascended the throne, since Iro refused to fight for the throne. In addition, Iro failed to fulfill his task as a general - to take Ba Sing Se, the capital of the Kingdom of the Earth. Iro besieged the city when news came of the death of his son, then the heir to the throne left his post.
Iro is very different from her relatives. He is good-natured, unremarkable and very wise. When Zuko was expelled, Iro decided to accompany his nephew.
Azula
Now let's move on to the uniquely negative characters in the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Characters, which can be classified as negative, are headed by Azula - Zuko's younger sister. From childhood, she was the favorite of her father, despite her cruelty. The girl is the best fire mage after her father, in addition, she is prudent, cold-blooded and intelligent. Its main goal has always been power.
Nevertheless, despite her strong qualities, by the end of season 3, when she received the throne of her father, she was seized with madness.
Tai Li and Mei
You can meet many interesting heroes by watching the series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The characters Tai Li and May are the minions of Azula. They help the princess in her quest for Avatra and in battles with him and his friends.
Tai Li - since childhood, was a friend of Azula. She does not own magic, but she has acrobatic abilities and fighting techniques that can block the qi of the enemy, thereby depriving him of the ability to use magic.
May is also Azula's girlfriend and Zuko's girlfriend. The only child in official May’s senior family has been used to restraining her emotions since childhood. She is very good at throwing and melee weapons.
