Director, actor, screenwriter Mikhail Shevchuk - man of art

Russian director Mikhail Shevchuk, who tried his hand at the role of actor and screenwriter, was born in early February 1968. In his youth, the future domestic visionary was fond of sports, has the rank of master of sports in pentathlon. After graduating from high school, Mikhail continues to receive education at VTU. Schepkina, Shevchuk’s course is taught by V. A. Safronov. Inspired by a mentor, the young man later enters VGIK.

Between acting and production

Mikhail Shevchuk began his creative career with acting. His debut role was the second-hand character Johnny in the mini-series Hearts of Three, directed by Vladimir Popkov. Since the project was quite successful (IMDb: 7.40), most of the actors from the original television movie, Shevchuk among them, agreed to participate in the continuation of “Hearts of Three-2”.

After filming in the series, Mikhail Shevchuk moved away from big cinema and TV, giving preference to the stage of the Maly Theater. There, he worked as an actor for a significant period (from 1993 to 1997). In 1998, the historical and melodramatic movie novel “The Siberian Barber” was released, in which the future film director plays the role of cunker.

Later, Michael worked at the Shchepkin Theater Institute as a teacher in the department specializing in the plastic education of the actor. Only in 2005 he made his debut as a director, at the Russian Youth Theater Shevchuk staged a classic - the play “Romeo and Juliet” according to the greatest genius of literature of Shakespeare. Since 2005, Mikhail Shevchuk has been involved in film directing.

  • the magnificent 19th-century morals movie Satisfaction (2005);
  • adventure thriller series "Main Caliber" (2006);
  • original military television movie "Chronicle of Hell" (2006);
  • the action movie Panther (2007);
  • TV movies-melodrama “Hate” (2008) and “Special Corps of the Investigation Department” (2009);

  • direct continuation of the first two parts of the film “On the Game” and the mini-series “Gamers” (2012);
  • film adaptation of John Galsworthy ’s novel “The Big Dream” (2012).

Based on the classics of the genre

In 2015, Mikhail Shevchuk, a director who practiced on multi-series projects, shot the comedy “Run Away, Catch Up, Fall in Love” based on the legendary comedy “Caucasian Captive” by world-famous canon director Gaidai. According to Shevchuk, he presented to the audience a completely different story with all the components of the genre. The brainchild of Michael is neither a remake, nor a sequel to the immortal comedy of Gaidai.

Siberian barber

In 2016, the director makes a musical melodrama about love passions raging around the filming of a dance film by an Italian director under the eloquent title “Dance with Me”. The main choreographer of the tape is the famous British choreographer Paul Domain. And for locations Shevchuk used not only Moscow streets, but also amazing places of the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. The brainchild of Michael has a little in common with the work of Anne Fletcher's “Step Forward”, which is just the slogan: “Step forward towards love.”
