The fate of Mathison was very unpredictable. It would seem that a girl who does not have a director's or screenwriting education should not have got into the world of big cinema. But it turned out quite the opposite.
Anna Matison was born in the distant Irkutsk. She has two brothers - Timothy and Leonid. Little is known about the girl’s school hobbies, but after graduating from school she entered the
Irkutsk State University for a specialty that is not related to cinema.
Studying was easy for Anna, so she simultaneously decided to get a job at a local television company. By the time it was time to get a diploma, Mathison was already the main producer of software broadcasting. It so happened that at that time she was the only producer of such a level in Russia who was not yet 25 years old.
In 2004, Mathison co-founded REC.production, which produced promotional films and videos. It was then that the young producer revealed the truth that she was not very interested in advertising, but was attracted to a great movie.
Moving to Moscow
At 25, Anna Matison "committed an act" and went to Moscow to receive a second higher education: she became a student at the VGIK scenario school. By the way, VGIK director graduated in 2013 with honors.
The girl understood that she needed to start somewhere, so she created a script based on the work of Yevgeny Grishkovets “The Mood Improved” and made a short film. The famous actor and playwright was interested in this work, and he got in touch with Anna. As a result, in 2011 Matison’s debut feature film “Satisfaction” was released, in which Grishkovets not only starred in the film, but also wrote a script co-authored with Anna.
According to the plot of the film, two men who love the same woman gather in the same restaurant and drink there from evening to morning. At first they try to “divide” the woman among themselves, then they realize that they don’t like her at all, and move on to more philosophical topics for conversation. The film has a lot of dialogue, but little action. That is why he was criticized by professional playwrights and directors.
Movie scripts and directorial work
Anna Mathison was not embarrassed by criticism. Together with Eugene Grishkovets, they continue to cooperate to this day. The result of their joint work was a documentary series called "Without a Script", a series of music videos. Also, Mathison and Grishkovets wrote two plays: “Home” and “Weekend”. The play "Weekend" was staged in several theaters in Russia, as well as theaters of neighboring countries.
Mathison took part in writing the script for the films "Firs-2", "Through the Eyes of a Dog", "Firs-3", "The Milky Way", "Firs-1914". Mathison also made many documentaries: The Musician, dedicated to the work of Denis Matsuev, as well as a number of films about the conductor Valery Gergiev, composers Shchedrin, Prokofiev, Berlioz and choirmaster Mikhail Turetsky.
"Milky Way"
Director Anna Matison in 2015 began filming the movie “Milky Way”. Around the film there is a lot of hype, because not only famous actors like Sergey Bezrukov and Marina Alexandrova will appear in it, but also pianist Denis Matsuev. The movie will be released in 2016.
Mathison says this film should remind the viewer of the famous "Irony of Fate ...". At least she is trying to do everything possible for this. When the directors were asked if the famous musician Matsuev was managing his duties, Anna assured that she was lucky with Denis: he feels the mise en scene and the camera well. All the action in the film takes place on New Year's Eve in Irkutsk. And Matsuev, as you know, comes from precisely these parts.
In addition to such famous personalities as Bezrukov and Matsuev, Valentin Gaft, Marina Alexandrova and even Vladimir Menshov are involved in the project.
Anna Mathison: personal life
Mathison does not really talk about his personal life. And even when she and Bezrukov were photographed on the camera at the moment when they were walking hand in hand in Moscow, and then they posted this video on the Internet, nothing had changed: both Bezrukov and Matison were silent about their relationship. It is only known that Sergei really left the family and no longer lives with Irina Bezrukova.
Director Anna Matison in his interviews speaks about the actor only positively. She admitted that the main role in the "Milky Way" honed just for him. Moreover, it is known that Bezrukov will star in two more of her projects - the historical film "Wait for Spring" and the biographical film "Baryshnikov".
