Ferns are among the vascular plants, the structure of which is much more complicated than that of mosses, but simpler than gymnosperms and angiosperms. Consider that such a vayi is one of the fern organs.
Structural features
The body of the fern consists of the root and stem, on which the vayi are located - these are organs that look like leaves, but are not. Their feature is a strong dissection. On the underside of these leaf-like organs, small tubercles can be observed, which in science are called sporangia. It is here that the spores responsible for the reproduction of plants are located. Ferns have no flowers and seeds.
Interestingly, ferns do not yet have leaves, but there are leaf blades. This happened due to compaction in the vayas, which allowed us to create a plate, like that of a leaf of a flowering plant. However, they themselves have not yet been formed. Vaya does not give a clear answer to the question of where the stem ends and the leaf begins.
Distinctive features
Vaiyas are organs inherent in fern-like ones; they are absent in higher flowering plants. How do they differ from leaves?
- Most often grow from rhizomes.
- The presence of apical or lateral growth. In flowering, such a feature is inherent in shoots.
- Young waiyi at the beginning of their growth are similar to a snail and twisted in a spiral shape.
Due to these features, waii is also called pre-run.
Wii are leaf-like organs that can have a different appearance:
- Lanceolate.
- Triangular.
- Simple.
- Strongly dissected and resembling bizarre antlers.
Some of these leaves can be cut twice and even thrice, so they look delicate and very beautiful. Due to this feature, ferns are often used as ornamental plants and as an element of landscape design composition . The color of these organs is green, saturated. In some species, the vaya is light, with a dark vein in the middle. Other species are decorated with a kind of rust coating. You can also find plants with silver or purple wai.
The size of the pre-runs largely depends on the specific type of plant and can range from a centimeter to several meters (in tree-like).
Appointment
We considered that among ferns, vayayas are called organs that look like leaves. They perform the most important functions. It is in them that sporangia with disputes are located. Also, the process of photosynthesis in ferns occurs precisely in these organs.
Some plant species have two forms of vayi:
- some are responsible for the photosynthesis process;
- on the second are sporangia.
Interestingly, waii are organs that are found not only in ferns, but also in palm trees. Their shape and size depend on the particular plant species. For example, in date palms, these leaf-shaped organs consist of two parts: a base, which is attached to the stem, and a leaf, first narrow, then expanding. Their length is an average of 25 cm, the shape resembles a feather.
Vaiyas are organs of ferns that resemble leaves. Thanks to this structure, these plants are more complex than mosses.
