Gosha from Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears, aka Tibul from Three Fat Men, aka Gusev from 9 Days of One Year, aka Borozdin from Cranes Flying, aka Trubetskoy from Star of Captivating Happiness, aka beloved by more than one generation of viewers, Batalov Aleksei Vladimirovich.
His biography began on November 20, 1928. On this day, the son of Alexei was born in the family of the Moscow Art Theater Vladimir Batalov and Nina Olshanskaya. However, the marriage of parents soon broke up, and when Alyosha was 5 years old, her mother married the famous writer Viktor Ardov. The stepfather took and raised the boy as his own son.
The family house was open to people of literature and art. Their guests were Anna Akhmatova, Boris Pasternak, Osip Mandelstam, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Joseph Brodsky. In a society of talented, spiritually rich and educated people, Alexei Batalov grew and formed. His biography could not but be connected with the world of art.
Anna Akhmatova occupied a special place in the life of the family, because she was a close friend of them and always stayed in their house when she came to Moscow. Of course, a person of this magnitude had a huge impact on the formation of the character of a young man.
During the war, the future actor, along with his mother, went to evacuate to Tatarstan. Here, for the first time, Alexey Batalov began to appear on the stage in small roles. His biography as an artist was yet to come, but the first steps were taken then, during the difficult war years.
Upon returning to Moscow, Alexei entered the Moscow Art Theater School, during his studies he married Irina Rotova, the daughter of the artist Konstantin Rotov. They fell in love at 16, married at 18, then “gave birth” to their daughter Nadezhda, and exactly 10 years after the start of the relationship (in 1958) broke up.
By that time, Alexei Batalov, whose biography sometimes resembles an adventure novel, fell in love with the beautiful gypsy Gitan. Gitan Leontenko was from a circus family and successfully performed in the arena as a rider. The girl’s parents were against this union, but Alexey was persistent, and they had to give in. In 1963, lovers signed. In the second marriage, the actor had a daughter, Masha, who was sick with cerebral palsy. This did not stop her from graduating from VGIK, the screenwriting department. Gitana left the circus and devoted herself to new roles: mistress, wife and mother, with whom she coped very well.
Alexey Batalov (his biography as an actor deserves a separate article) did not enter the theater stage immediately after graduating from the Moscow Art Theater School. At first there was a service in the Armed Forces, which he served in the Theater of the Soviet Army. Only after that did the actor enter the Moscow Art Theater troupe.
In parallel with the game in the theater, Alexey is filming a movie. The first film in which he was given one of the main roles was the film "The Big Family" directed by Joseph Kheifets. After the release of the tape in 1954, Alexei Batalov woke up famous. Following her, the actor starred in the same director in the films “The Rumyantsev Case” (1955), “Lady with a Dog” (1960), “My Dear Man” (1960), “Day of Happiness” (1964). In between filming with his beloved director, Alexey starred in the movie “Cranes Are Flying,” thundered around the world. The film was released in 1957, and the next, 1958, received the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
The actor’s filmography was composed of such wonderful paintings as “Nine Days of One Year” (dir. M. Romm, 1962), “Three Fat Men” (here he acted both as a director and as an actor, 1966), “Running” (dir. A. Alov and V. Naumov, 1970), “Star of captivating happiness” (dir. V. Motyl, 1975), “Purely English murder” (dir. S. Samsonov, 1974). And finally, released in 1980, the film that remains a hit to this day, the Oscar-winner “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” (dir. V. Menshov).
Gosha, played by Alexei Batalov, became the one who is now called the “sex symbol” for women of the fourth land: a handsome, erudite, noble man with an attentive look and a strong character. After filming in this film, the actor no longer played in the movie, having made, however, one exception for the painting “Speed” by D. Svetozarov.
