What is dishonesty? Meaning and Interpretation

We would like all people to be honest, kind and welcoming. But, unfortunately, no time on earth is observed. Therefore, it's time to talk about shamelessness. It is not too pleasant, but necessary.

Value

Man is soul-breaking

When a person is deceived, he immediately recalls his conscience and begins to reflect in what state she is in today. Of course, these are useful thoughts, but it is better to be on the lookout for those who are not credible.

Let us first turn to the explanatory dictionary, let it serve as our guide. First, we define what “conscience” is - a sense of moral responsibility for one’s behavior in front of surrounding people and society. So, dishonesty is a phenomenon opposite to conscience, right? Obviously. But in the explanatory dictionary, the definition of the object of study is much simpler: "unscrupulous" - dishonest and arrogant. Yes, I must say that shamelessness does not have an independent meaning in the dictionary, the latter sends the afflicted to watch a related adjective, so do not be surprised.

There is only one problem: the characteristics of the explanatory dictionary will not help us understand what conscience and its absence are. Therefore, let's look at how our moral ideas about the world are formed. Naturally, very briefly.

How does conscience arise

Man listens to a contradictory inner voice

When psychology as such did not exist, philosophy took over its function. Philosophers defined conscience very poetic. Someone said that conscience is the voice of God, someone - that the voice of Genesis (with a capital letter), perhaps there were versions that it was the voice of reason. The hypothesis was enough. Now psychology has pulled off the mystical and poetic veil from moral attitudes, so we can quite clearly imagine: conscience is our upbringing, coupled with self-development. Of course, the formation of conscience, as well as any views and beliefs, cannot be dismantled to the last screw. Therefore, not everything comes down to reading books and teaching parents. But the base is formed in childhood, for it was at that time that the concepts of good and evil were laid. True, there always remains in such schemes something so elusive, constantly slipping away. Children often show astounding kindness or discouraging malice even before any teachings. Therefore, both points of view on the problem of conscience (both philosophical and psychological) still remain relevant.

Let the reader not be angry, the consideration of the phenomenon of conscience is not a drag on time, but a necessary stop, which will help to better understand the meaning of the word “shamelessness”.

What is shamelessness?

By the way, did you notice what almost reverence is recorded in the explanatory dictionary with respect to the word "conscience" and, conversely, neglect of its antonym? And all this because it is difficult to maintain firmness of conviction, but it’s simple to cunning, play out, deceive. But is it? Who do we call unscrupulous? Those whose moral principles do not coincide with ours. Remember that the initial understanding of the good and the bad is formed in the family. One is brought up according to Christian ideals, and from the other, a predator, the shark of capitalism, faithful to the ideas of social Darwinism, is also carefully fashioned. In other words, he not only thinks himself the strongest, but also considers himself the best. Although even this does not follow from Darwin's theory. Probably a bit too much "isms", but in general, everything is clear. And most importantly, in the eyes of a true Christian, the “predator” - the personification of shamelessness, is obvious.

But in everyday speech usually refers to what the explanatory dictionary is talking about. Someone tricked someone or broke the law. The clash of two human worlds is quite complicated. And when a person violates public attitudes, everything plus or minus is clear. There is another name for dishonesty - disrespect. If one deceives the other, then he simply does not respect and does not value him. Such is the disappointing conclusion.

Do you know what else you can think of at your leisure? On the bright side of the phenomenon that we are considering. If a person has no conscience, then this increases his flexibility, increases his efficiency, and in the end makes him more adaptable to the environment. By the way, this is what Darwinism speaks of if we give it a social interpretation: not the best, but the fittest, survive. And in this sense, the importance of unscrupulousness cannot be underestimated.
