Ex-clip-maker, creator of “Dawn of the Dead”, “300 Spartans”, “Keepers” Zack Snyder presented the fantastic action “Forbidden Reception” to the audience in 2011, the actors and roles of which are still the subject of heated debate between fans and opponents of the film.
Plot
The plot narration of the picture is feverish delusional fantasies of a beautiful patient in a psychiatric hospital. At least that's how the actors describe him. “Forbidden Reception” tells the story of the main character - an attractive young blonde with the corresponding nickname Doll (the role was played by a young actress from Australia Emily Browning). After the sudden death of the mother, the girl in the mental institution is determined by the bald vile stepfather. In a madhouse they practice lobotomy, this operation and is expecting the main character soon. In order to break free and avoid the horrors of punitive psychiatry, the Doll enters the support of four friends in misfortune: Rocket (Gina Melone), Darling, in another voice acting - Cuties (Abby Cornish), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Chang). Like any other Zach Snyder project, the film features an impressive soundtrack that includes cover versions of Eurythmics, Queen and The Pixies. The well-known composition of the original Björk also became a decoration of the musical accompaniment of the picture.

Whenever the five beauties need to get the next item necessary for release, in this fantastic world a fierce battle begins with the active and direct participation of various kinds of monsters. “It's like in console games, when each level passed ends in a mandatory battle with the main monster - the“ boss ”,” the actors participating in the shootings explained to reporters. "Forbidden Reception" offers the viewer such "bosses" for every taste. There are orcs, and dragons, and zombie fascists, and samurai, and robots, and so on and so forth. Such magnificence and an abundance of fantasy monsters and shocking visual effects send those who look to the fantastic films of the past years - “The Lord of the Rings”, “Hellboy” and even “The Matrix”.
Comic film
In writing the script for the joint project between the USA and Canada, in addition to the director Zack Snyder, the mysterious Steve Shibuya, whose name has been known in narrow circles of the film industry since the late 80s, took part. According to the style, not only film critics, but also the actors came to this conclusion: “Forbidden Reception” reminds to some extent “Guardians” - a film based on the popular comic strip and preserving the appropriate surroundings. This, together with the above advantages, puts this film project on a par with similar comic book films, which for the most part are devoid of intelligence and special semantic load, but are saturated with an amazing visual range, dynamic plot and intriguing climax.
