Actress Svetlana Karpinskaya: filmography, biography and personal life

Svetlana Karpinskaya, whose filmography shows us how legibly and cautiously the actress approaches her work, played not too many roles in the movie. But each of them was lived by it, carried through the soul and heart. That is why the images in her performance always turn out to be bright and unforgettable.

Childhood

Svetlana Karpinskaya was born in Leningrad. Date of birth: September 16, 1937. Her parents were educators. Relatives of his father, Alexei Blagoveshchensky, belonged to the church estate. In the 30s, they came under repression, and they were shot. After these tragic events, his father changed his surname and thus became Karpinsky. The family lived in a communal apartment on Vasilyevsky Island. Parents tried to give their daughter a good education and paid great attention to the education of the right taste, both materially and spiritually. At the end of the war, Svetlana was engaged in amateur performances, participated in various cultural events. When she was 16 years old, at one of the concerts, the famous V. Shostak drew attention to the girl. Suddenly, she receives an offer from him to play one of the main roles in his play Factory Girl. Svetlana liked being an artist, but she did not abandon her dream of becoming a journalist. Therefore, after graduation, she enters the faculty of Leningrad University.

First movie appearance

Svetlana did not aspire to cinema, regularly studying at the university. But here His Majesty intervened a case. When Eldar Ryazanov was preparing for the filming of the comedy “Girl Without an Address”, for some reason he was dissatisfied with the actress, who was already approved for the main role. By chance, seeing Svetlana, he offers her to star in the role of Katya Ivanova. Either Ryazanov was so sure that Svetlana Karpinskaya was ideally suited for the role, or he was not so satisfied with the previously approved person, but the young Sveta, who had never starred in the movie, did not even pass the test. Be that as it may, the great Eldar Ryazanov was not mistaken in his choice. The premiere of the picture “Girl without an Address” instantly made Karpinsky a celebrity. Her heroine Katya Ivanova - “a girl with no address, but with character” - fell in love with millions of moviegoers. It should be noted that in the picture, the artist not only coped with the main role perfectly, but also showed herself as a wonderful vocalist. In her performance in the film, the Countess’s aria, “Song of Moscow”, as well as the song “I Lived a Girl, Did Not Know Concerns” sounded.

Actress or journalist?

Karpinskaya Svetlana Alekseevna, whose filmography began with such a stunning success in the role of Katya Ivanova, after the premiere of "Girls Without an Address" finally became convinced that she should devote herself to acting.

She left the university and immediately became a 3rd year student of the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. In an interview, Karpinskaya said that one of the representatives of the Mosfilm authorities suggested moving to a permanent residence in the capital, promising to provide an apartment and roles. It was difficult for her to believe such loud promises, and she did not want to leave Leningrad.

But there could have been more roles ...

However, there could be even more roles. Actress Svetlana Karpinskaya received many offers from the most famous directors. But she did not always accept these proposals. The “Girl with Character” very carefully and demandingly studied the roles offered to her. There were personal reasons. The first husband of Karpinsky, also being a representative of the acting profession, was very negative about the success of his wife in the cinema. It is difficult to say what was the reason. Perhaps envy or banal unwillingness for his woman to be successful. Their marriage lasted five years, after which Svetlana Karpinskaya herself left her husband.

Another reason is the reluctance of the actress to undergo film screenings. The fact is that in 1970 Karpinskaya was invited to sample one of the key heroines for the film “Salute, Mary!” She did an excellent job, having played well a given part of the role. But it turned out that even before the start of the trial, another actress was approved for the role. After this unpleasant incident, she avoided going to film screenings.

Girl with a character

As Svetlana Karpinskaya herself admits, films and roles leave a different mark in the soul. Her favorite work is a role in the drama "For the rest of my life" and the melodrama "Sweet Woman". One of the most high-profile and large-scale works of Svetlana Karpinskaya in the cinema was the role of Vera Khomyakova in the film “The Third Double” directed by L. Tsutsulkovsky (1992).
