Social worker. Job responsibilities

A social worker is a profession that plays a large role in modern society. It is no secret that the country's population is aging, and the material level and, for the most part, the state of health do not allow older people to live actively. Sometimes it happens that the only person who connects the elderly person with the outside world is the person who represents the social service. In fact, it is thanks to this service that older people who have no one to rely on in their life get the opportunity to talk, purchase food and medicine, necessary hygiene items and household items.

It is good when a social worker has a secondary specialized education or a higher professional education, but, unfortunately, at present people who have no professional training are involved in the service of elderly citizens and people with disabilities. To perform this work, many spiritual qualities are required, and they most often come to this profession at the call of the heart.

A social worker should be perfectly aware of state laws, regulations and normative acts on social services for disabled and elderly citizens . Also, he must perfectly comply with the internal labor regulations and job descriptions. Guided by labor protection rules and basic safety rules, sanitary and fire safety standards, a social worker can provide all possible assistance at the place of residence of their wards. The duties of a social worker are primarily to identify among the population of the designated area of the disabled and elderly citizens who cannot do their own housework and are in dire need of care. Workers in this field constantly conduct surveys among older people, pensioners and people with disabilities in the territory entrusted to them, explain to them their rights, which they can count on.

The duties of a social worker include paperwork, as well as contact with relatives of the wards and the attending physician. He must maintain confidentiality in relation to his wards, draw up material assistance, which is required by law for people with disabilities and pensioners. His responsibilities include maintaining records. He reports his disability in advance, as this will allow him to find a replacement for the duration of the illness.
