Childhood and youth
Actress Lyubov Sokolova was born in 1921 in the town of Ivanovo-Voznesensk. Her father - Sergei Maksimovich - worked as a cabinetmaker, her mother - Praskovya Fedorovna - was a seller, and after that she became the director of the store.
From early childhood, Lyubov Sergeyevna was accustomed to work. The family had a large farm: livestock, garden. And the care responsibilities were assigned to young Luba.
From childhood, it was clear that the girl has a great acting talent. Repeatedly she made performances for her family and for neighbors at the age of five, dressing herself in old mother's dresses.
While studying at school, Love endlessly participated in amateur performances, and also attended a drama club.
A favorite activity of the future actress was a visit to the Ivanovo Theater of Musical Comedy. She went to performances so often that sometimes she was allowed on for free.
Mother Lyubov Sergeyevna dreamed that her daughter would go to the conservatory, but the teacher at the school drama circle dispelled these dreams, advising the girl to go to the pedagogical. So, Lyubov Sergeyevna came to Leningrad in 1940.
Education
In the Pedagogical Institute. Herzen Lyubov Sokolova arrived without any problems. When her studies had already begun, the girl found out that students were recruiting to the acting school at Lenfilm. Sokolova, without a second's doubt, ran to the audition and made a huge impression on the admissions committee, reading Nina’s monologue from The Seagull.
For a whole year and a half, Lyubov Sergeevna combined her studies at the pedagogical institute and acting courses, and also managed to earn extra money at the station.
Almost two years after the outbreak of the war, Lyubov Sokolova ended up in Moscow. She decided to continue her studies. She was accepted to VGIK immediately for the second year (the institute was evacuated in Alma-Ata).
The teachers of Sokolova were outstanding masters: Sergey Gerasimov, Olga Pyzhova, Boris Bibikov. Studying was easy for the girl, she was a constant participant in all the performances. And in 1946, actress Lyubov Sokolova graduated with honors. She began to work in the theater-studio of the film actor, and the debut in the movie was not far off.

The war overtook a girl in Leningrad. To somehow help her homeland, Lyubov Sergeyevna got a job at an aircraft factory. She worked parts for aircraft engines.
Her husband George Arapovsky and mother-in-law worked at the same factory. These were hard days of hunger and cold, but Lyubov Sergeyevna managed to survive the blockade and wait for the evacuation. She left Leningrad without a family: her husband and mother-in-law died of starvation. This is one of the most terrible tragedies in the life of an actress.
The "Road of Life" was under constant shelling, but Sokolova was lucky too. She reached Lake Ladoga to the evacuation point, and for some time helped the wounded there. Then she was transported to Ivanovo, and from there to Moscow. After permission from the Minister of Cinematography to study at VGIK, Lyubov Sokolova moved to Kazakhstan, where she was until 1946.
Theater work
The first theater of the actress was the Studio Theater of the film actor, in which she worked almost all her life. However, in 1951, she and several other young actors received an offer to go to Germany and work in the theater of the Group of Soviet Forces. Actress Lyubov Sokolova made this decision without a doubt, because there was practically no work in Moscow, which meant that there was not enough livelihood.
For five years Lyubov Sergeyevna worked in Potsdam, where the base of the drama theater was located. The work was quite intense, the troupe had to constantly travel around, touring all the Soviet military units based in Germany.
Lyubov Sokolova is an actress who played dozens of roles in the theater of the Group of Soviet Forces, including Polenka from Profitable Place, Shura in the play Egor Bulychev and Others, Lyubushka in The Last on the play by Maxim Gorky.
In 1956, Lyubov Sokolova came back to Moscow. She again began to work in the Studio Theater of the film actor, but was constantly involved in only one performance - "For those at sea." The circumstances were such that Lyubov Sokolova became a sought-after actress in cinema, although she did not have so many main roles.
Movie work
The debut of the actress could have taken place in 1941, in the film "Front-line girlfriends," but she herself refused the role. After graduation, she was invited to the film "The Tale of a Real Man", directed by Alexander Stolper. Sokolova played a small role there as a nurse of Barbara.
Before leaving for Germany, Lyubov Sergeevna played in several films, but these were episodic roles. After 1956, she appeared in the films "Two Lives", "The Ulyanovs Family", "Quiet Flows the Don", "Walking the Hardship." On the set of the last, Sokolova met her future husband, George Danelia.
Film career Lyubov Sokolova developed rapidly. She was often invited to the role of her mother because of her good temperament. She played in someone else’s mother’s films in more than ten films (Payback, Dangerous Friends, Two Voices Melody). Personal life
As a student of acting courses in Leningrad, actress Lyubov Sokolova, whose personal life is sometimes striking in her tragedy, gets acquainted with aspiring actor Georgy Arapovsky. Young people immediately fall in love with each other and decide to get married. Unfortunately, their family life was short-lived. During the siege of Leningrad, George dies of hunger.
For a long time Lyubov Sergeyevna could not survive the bitterness of loss and did not pay attention to the courtship of men.
Years later, on the set of the film “Walking through the agony”, she met a young man beginning a career in directing. George Danelia fell in love with the actress, and soon they began to live together.
In 1959, their son Nikolai was born (at the time of his birth, Sokolova was already 38 years old). Actress Lyubov Sokolova, whose biography is not as happy as it might seem, soon returned to work. Grandmothers helped take care of Nikolai.
Sokolova and Danelia lived together for 26 years, but then he went to another woman. The new chosen one of the director was Galina Jurassic. Lyubov Sokolova calmly suffered this blow of fate and moved to her cooperative apartment.
The son of these two talented people followed in the footsteps of their parents. He graduated from the directing department of VGIK and was told a great future. Unfortunately, this prophecy was not destined to be fulfilled.
Tragedies in the life of an actress
Lyubov Sokolova is an actress whose son could become an outstanding director of his time. His short films of student days were highly appreciated by leading experts in cinema. But fate decreed otherwise. In the early 1980s, Nikolai became interested in Baptism, then fell into a sect, became very withdrawn. He was not stopped even by the fact that his little daughter Margarita was growing up.
In 1985, Nicholas dies under mysterious circumstances. His body was found in the apartment of his father’s new wife - Galina Jurassic. Sokolov’s love is going through this blow of fate. She continues to work hard, give concerts.
In 1994, on the way to her next performance, Lyubov Sergeyevna and her friend Maya Bulgakova had a terrible accident. After a few days in the intensive care unit, the heart of Maya Grigoryevna stops. Sokolov’s love heavily suffered this loss.
Actress Lyubov Sokolova, whose photograph is hanging in a place of honor at the State Film Actor Theater, died in June 2001.
