You must admit that even people who consider themselves experts in geography cannot always unambiguously answer the question of where the city of Nyandoma or any other town from the Russian hinterland is located. We have too many settlements located far from popular tourist routes and destinations. In appearance they are modest, inconspicuous and, in principle, slightly differ from each other.
That is why immediately a completely logical question arises: is it worth getting to know them at all? Surely! And the reason is clear: you can get to know the culture and traditions of our native land in this way.

It is unlikely that many of us tried to find where the city ​​of Nyandoma is located on the map. There must be a pretty good reason for this. As the locals say: “We rarely get to us by chance, more people come for business. We have neither particularly outstanding architectural monuments, nor cozy parks, nor shady squares. Section 3. Location, climate and fauna
The territory on which the city of Nyandoma was built just over 100 years ago does not pamper its inhabitants with favorable climatic conditions. The average temperature in winter is -17 ° C, and in summer the thermometer’s column very rarely rises above +16 ° C. By the way, the natural anomalies of this area are also inherent. Scientists studying the climate of this region claim that over the past 50 years, the maximum temperature recorded here has been +32 o C, the minimum -41 o C. Precipitation occurs quite often. In the warm season and in the off-season, it rains, in winter, heavy snowfalls.
The fauna of the area, especially when you consider where the city of Nyandoma is located, is very diverse, although it is still recommended to divide it into two categories: wild and urban representatives of the fauna. In the vicinity of the village you can easily see brown bears, foxes, moose, squirrels, beavers, wolves. But in the urban area there is a huge variety of birds, among which crows, sparrows, bullfinches and pigeons are most often found.

Actively under construction railway urgently needed a constant and reliable transportation hub. So the station was built, which at that time was considered temporary. Gradually around it began to be built various plan dugouts and temporary huts.
Initially, in order for even a medium-sized settlement to appear in these parts, it was necessary to cut down the forest. This task was partially solved already during the construction of the railway, later the workers themselves cleared the territories that were not populated at that time. By the autumn of 1839, it was possible to finish laying the rails, after which the locals immediately set about building the station itself and the church.
Progress did not end there. And literally 10 years later, in general, the Arkhangelsk region, the city of Nyandoma in particular, was transformed. A telegraph first appeared, a little later a telephone. And in the most inhabited locality there is an inn, a school, sewing workshops, tavernas, bakeries, bakeries and even a pub. Public transport has been operating in Nyandoma since 1960, and from year to year its number is noticeably increasing.
Even in difficult years for Russia, the city not only did not lose its face, but also continued to develop. Now industry has improved, new schools and kindergartens have appeared and continue to be built, which means that the number of local people does not decrease from year to year.

Based on where Nyandoma is located, it’s difficult to talk about some particularly active life in terms of culture. As a rule, eminent pop musicians do not come here. And the point is not that there will be nowhere to accept them. There are halls and clubs in the administrative center. Just a small population, only 21,000 people according to 2011 data. However, the city administration is doing everything possible to develop its citizens. Today, the city has a Center for Culture and Sports, a cinema "Zarya", a museum of local lore and a library.
