In the Bulgarian national team, however, he remains an unquestioned authority, having been the team captain for many years.
Player Features
Ivelin Popov, whose photo is known to all Bulgarian sports fans, is a characteristic representative of the Balkan football school. He is quite technical, has a good knowledge of the culture of the pass and plays very useful as an attacking midfielder.
Yvelin is able to give an accurate pass, independently punch on goal, which makes him a valuable player. Moreover, he is characterized by certain weaknesses. Even in his youth, he was famous for his difficult character, Bulgarian coaches hardly suffered numerous disciplinary violations by the absurd geek.
In addition, Yvelin is quite easily aroused by emotions, a series of unsuccessful matches unsettle him, after which fans can watch the pale shadow of the former creative midfielder for quite some time.
In addition, Ivelin Popov has the weakness of avoiding βroughβ work, that is, taking an active part in defensive actions, taking away balls from an opponent, for which he is often criticized by fans and specialists.
Bulgarian Championship Star
The current captain of the Bulgarian national team was born in Sofia in 1987. Ivelin received his first lessons in football at the Septemvri school, where he was noticed by the vigorous scouts of Levski, one of the country's strongest clubs. For seven years, the guy honed his skills at the clubβs academy, but short-sighted bosses took a long time to sign a full-fledged contract with a promising foster child.
He waved his hand at Levski and in 2005 went to the Dutch Feyenoord, where he tried to gain a foothold in the famous club. However, it was not possible to break into the main team, and Ivelin Popov returned to his homeland, where he was already looking forward to it at Litex.
The Bulgarian began his brilliant professional career. In the first nine matches, he scored four goals and entered the top three youngest players in the national championship. However, the guy "caught a star", became free to discipline, violated the regime, for which the team coach mercilessly fined him. Nevertheless, Ivelin Popov soon became one of the leaders of the club and spent five years in it, managing to become the country's champion and the best player of the season.
Legionary
In 2010, the Turkish Gaziantepspor invited the star of the Bulgarian championship, paying Litex compensation of 2 million euros. In Turkey, Ivelin Popov felt good, regularly appeared on the field and scored quite a lot for the player of the center of the field. In only 60 matches for the club, he hit the goal 9 times.
In 2012, he again changed the championship, moving to the Krasnodar βKubanβ. Here he mastered well, in the first season becoming the club's top scorer. Yvelin helped the team break into the European competition, where he also played well. In the qualifying matches of the Europa League, he scored three goals for Motheruel and Feyenoord, which allowed Kuban for the first time in its history to break into the main draw of the tournament.
"Spartacus"
In 2015, Ivelin Popov signed a contract with Moscow Spartak. At first he fit perfectly into the new team, managing to become the best player of the month, often scoring. However, due to serious competition for a place in the first team in the 2016/2017 season, Ivelin did not always go on the field from the first minutes, more often intensifying the game from the bench.
Nevertheless, together with the club, he became the champion of the country in 2017. In the 2017/2018 season, Yvelin becomes a frequent object of criticism for an uncertain game and more and more remains in stock.
