Lisa Arren is a colorful character from the famous TV series Game of Thrones. Almost from the first minute of her appearance in this television project, the mistress of the Valley and Robin's mother cause the viewers only irritation and hatred. What can you tell about the heroine and actress, who brilliantly embodied the difficult image of a slightly obsessed lady?
Lisa Arren: Background
The future lady of the Valley was born in the Riverlands. This region, managed by the Tully family, is part of Westeros, a fictional kingdom in which the lion's share of the events of the series takes place. Lisa Arren is the daughter of Lord Hoster Tully and his wife Minis. She early lost her mother, who died shortly after her birth. Lisa has a sister Katylin and brother Edmoor.
Khoster’s second daughter, Tally, was a child when her heart was abducted by Petir Beilish, a boy from a poor family whom the ruler of the River Lands took to him as a foster child. Unfortunately, Petir did not pay attention to the girl in love at all, since he preferred Katylin. It is not surprising that Lisa Arren hates her older sister since childhood, blames her for all her misfortunes.
First husband
The second daughter of the Lord of the Riverlands dreamed of becoming the wife of Petir Bailish, but such a mesalliance did not suit her father. Therefore, the girl was forced to marry the lord, the union with which was necessary for her family. John Arren - Lisa's first husband, their marriage took place during the uprising of Robert Baratheon. The ruler of the Valley (one of the regions of Westeros) was one of the leaders of the uprising, the purpose of which was the overthrow of King Airis Targaryen, whose madness was no longer doubted then.
The rebels needed the support of Lord Hoster and his army. For the sake of entering into a military alliance, Lord John was forced to marry Lisa, while Eddard Stark married her older sister Katylin. The army of Robert Baratheon won the bloody war , after which John became the right hand.
Lisa Arren was not happy in marriage. The husband chosen by the father turned out to be about forty years older than his wife, and he also treated her coolly. Her only consolation was the son of Robin, other children died in infancy. For 17 years, Lisa lived with her husband in Royal Harbor.
The death of John Arren
This character played a fatal role in the events of the Game of Thrones series. Lisa Arren agreed to become the wife of old John under the pressure of her family, but did not cease to love Petira. It was she who, taking advantage of her husband's abilities, helped Bailish make a dizzying career in Royal Harbor, become a master at the coin, managing the money of the crown.
It was Petir Baelish who convinced the woman who had become his secret mistress to poison John Arren. After the death of her husband, Lisa fled to the Eagle's Nest, which is the family castle of the Arrens, taking her young son Robin. She began to rule the Valley as regent with a minor child, promoting a policy of isolationism.
Petyr forced Lisa not only to get rid of Lord John, but also to write sister Katylin with a letter in which she blamed the Lannisters - a rich and powerful family, to which Queen Cersei (the wife of Robert Baratheon) belongs. It was from this that the conflict of Starks and Lannisters began, which had sad consequences.
First season
For the first time, Lisa Arren is mentioned in the first episode of the TV show Game of Thrones. Katilyn receives a letter from her younger sister, in which she says that her husband John was poisoned by the Lannisters, and she herself is forced to hide in the Valley and fear for the life of her young son. Upon learning this news, Eddard Stark decides to replace Arren as King’s right hand, as the latter insistently asks him to conduct his own investigation.

Katilyn Stark believes that Tyrion Lannister is guilty of an attempt on the life of one of her youngest sons, which occurred during the visit of King Robert to the Stark family castle. This idea was also inspired by Petir Bailish, trying to fan the conflict between two powerful clans. Upon meeting Tyrion on his way to Winterfell, Katylyn takes the dwarf prisoner and brings him to his sister in the Valley. Lisa becomes furious after learning about this act, but nevertheless declares that Lannister is now her captive. Only cunning helps Tyrion leave the Valley alive.
Katylin is horrified at how weak and pampered Lisa Arren's son is growing. She is also surprised at the changes that took place in her sister herself, who turned into a hysterical, suspicious and evil lady. Lisa flatly refuses to help her sister when she finds out about the capture of her husband in Royal Harbor. Lady of the Valley states that the task of her knights is to protect her son, and not to participate in the battle of the Starks and Lannisters.
Fourth season
The next time, the audience meets this colorful heroine in the fourth season of the show. After killing the king, Joffrey Baelish helps Sansa Stark (the youngest daughter of Katylyn) to escape from King's Landing, where she is being held by force. He brings the girl to the Valley, where Lisa is already looking forward to it. After this, Petir marries the mistress of the Eagle's Nest, who is still in love with him.
Becoming the wife of Bailish, Lisa still does not believe in his love. She suspects that he has feelings for Sansa, who is very similar to Katilyn in his youth. Her suspicions are strengthened when she finds him kissing her niece. Lisa threatens Sansa with death, but in the end she dies at the hands of her husband Petira. As a result, power over the Valley passes into the hands of Bailish, since the juvenile lord is not able to rule on his own.
Actress and her role
Not all viewers were satisfied with what Lisa Arren looks like in the series. The actress, who was approved for this role, looks to be its complete opposite. In the book, she appears puffy and overweight, in the series she is thin and pale.
If you believe the actress who embodied this image, she is delighted with her role. Kate claims that she always liked to play unhappy, offended by the fate of the heroines. She especially likes the way the storyline of her character suddenly ends.
