Romanchuk Roman Romanovich - Russian boxer, international master of sports. Date and place of birth: June 3, 1979, the city of Stryi, Lviv region of Ukraine. He lived in his native land until 1999. Vladivostok, July 28, 2008. At the preparatory team meeting of the athletes, where Romanchuk trained, he fell into an unpleasant brawl, which turned into serious consequences for him. The athlete entered into a discussion with a young man Oleg Meshkov - the initiator of the conflict. It is known that he mimicked Roman verbally to make sure that he was able as a boxer to show his skills. With a neutral answer from Romanchuk, the guy suddenly pointed his weapon at the athlete and fired. The boxer, of course, began to defend himself, to respond with self-defense. Companion immediately grabbed so that two bodies just fell. As a result, the second bullet accidentally flew out, right at the gunman himself, into the head. There was direct evidence and evidence from the scene, which showed who was guilty and who had the gun. And in his hands was a gun. I only answered him: "Leave me alone!" I stepped back from him all the time, but the distance was reduced, and he shot me right in the head. Further I do not remember anything. It seems like there was a second shot in the fight. When I woke up, he was lying on the ground, and I was lying close to him in handcuffs.
Court sentence
Immediately after the incident, a court verdict is issued to Roman Romanchuk on imprisonment for one and a half years for the murder of a young man because of exceeding the limits of self-defense. But the verdict was appealed from two sides, because the case was reviewed. The court amended the sentence of Romanchuk. They proved and admitted that death was due to negligence. He was reduced to one year and two months. As a result, Roman courageously survived the whole appointed term in the pre-trial detention center, after which he was released on December 4, 2009.
