To understand the essence of this deity, it makes sense to conduct a small study of his name. If we turn to the oldest translation of the books of Jewish Scripture, we find that “Moloch” is a derivative of the Hebrew version of “Molech” or “Melech”. The latter was used in the meaning of "king." The name of God - Milk - by the way, has the same translation. This is very similar to the story of the name of Baal, which is part of the divine name of the Israeli Ishbaal. At the same time, it is consonant with the term “bosh”, which translates as “shame” or “abomination”.
Some pundits have put forward a hypothesis that identifies Moloch with Yahweh (Jehovah). They refer to the words of the prophet Jeremiah, who pronounced them on behalf of the god Yahweh. We are talking about the fact that in the "valley of the sons of Hinnom" were elevated to burn boys and girls. Horror and fear caused Moloch to many people. Mythology tells that this god encouraged sacrifices.
Firstborn as a gift
Molokha was distinguished by one feature - a peculiar love for young children. As a rule, the first-born were in the role of victims, during a terrible ritual they were thrown into the fire.
