Three years after the premiere, the sequel to the legendary cartoon "Shrek" was released. The sequel has become one of the highest grossing animated films in the history of cinema. In the cartoon "Shrek 2" (2004), the actors returned to their heroes and presented the audience with another fascinating story about the adventures of the orc and his friends.
Plot
In the story, very little time passes after the wedding of Fiona and Shrek. The couple are still celebrating their honeymoon. A quiet and measured life is interrupted when Fiona receives a letter from her parents.
The king and queen want to see their daughter at court. Worried mother and father wish to get to know their daughter's spouse better. Fiona is glad to be invited, she already managed to miss her parents. But Shrek does not feel much joy from the upcoming trip.
But the spouse cannot refuse Fiona, so the couple goes to meet with their parents. A close friend of the family - Oslo - was instructed to monitor the house.
Cartoon "Shrek 2" (2004): actors and characters
Many voice actors returned to the familiar characters that they played in the first part of the cartoon. Shrek, Fiona, Donkey - these heroes have long been familiar to the audience. In the second part, the creators will introduce everyone closer to the parents of Fiona, the prince, his mother and the most dangerous assassin of the kingdom.
Shrek
In the cartoon "Shrek 2", actor Mike Myers returned to the voice acting of the main character - Shrek. In the sequel, Myers character enjoys the first days of family life with Fiona. He does not think about problems, about hunters, about enemies. For him, their solitary life is ideal. But, when Fiona's parents send a letter, Shrek agrees to go and stay in the palace.
From the first minutes of his stay at the parental home, Shrek realizes that he is not welcome. The king and queen treat him with poorly disguised contempt. Fiona's parents believe that Shrek ruined the life of their daughter. But the orc loves his wife, and therefore tries to establish relations with the father and mother of Fiona. He even agrees to go hunting with the king.
However, Shrek’s attitude towards Fiona’s parents changes when he learns that the king hired a killer to get rid of his son-in-law.
Fiona
Voice actors in “Shrek 2” tried with the help of only voice to convey the whole gamut of emotions that their characters experienced. This also applies to Cameron Diaz, who played the role of Fiona in "Shrek 2".
Unlike the first part of the cartoon, in the sequel, Fiona resigned herself to her essence and learned to enjoy life with her husband. But she is burdened by tensions with her parents. Therefore, she gladly accepts the invitation and goes to her father's house. But the princess does not yet know how much trouble this trip will bring them.
A donkey
The first part (2001) and Shrek 2 were especially popular among the audience. Cartoon actors managed to create heroes who were empathized not only by children, but also by adults.
Eddie Murphy in the cartoon "Shrek 2" returned to the role of Donkey - Shrek's best friend. In the sequel, the character has new problems. There was a breakdown in relations with the Dragon. The donkey is worried about this and therefore agrees to look after the newlyweds' house during their trip to Fiona's parents.
Puss in Boots
In the cartoon "Shrek 2" world-famous actors also took part. The role of the thug and killer, known throughout the kingdom, was played by Antonio Banderas. His character is Puss in Boots. There are legends about the abilities of the Cat. He can get into any fortress, destroy any target.
But during a meeting with Shrek, something goes wrong. And soon the Puss in Boots turns out to be not an enemy, but a faithful ally of the orc.
Prince charming
In the cartoon "Shrek 2" (2004), actor Rupert Everett gave his voice to Prince Charming. But his character is not noble and honest. Charming is always looking for a profit for itself, goes over its heads to its cherished goal, tries to get Fiona and her kingdom by deceit and blackmail.
Fairy godmother
Usually in cartoons, fairy godmothers act as guardians, good advisers and good friends. But in "Shrek 2" the fairy godmother, whose role was played by Julie Andrews, is the embodiment of self-interest and evil.
Fairy is the mother of Prince Charming. And for the sake of his well-being, a woman is ready to do anything. Even to kill innocent people.
King harold
John Cleese gave the king his voice in the cartoon "Shrek 2". His character is a slightly cowardly, sandwiched and insecure man. Harold had a contract with the fairy in the past, promising that his daughter would marry the prince.
After Shrek intervened in the course of events, the plan of the king and fairies failed. Therefore, Harold had to rush to figure out how to save his daughter from the orc society.
Queen lillian
Queen Lillian in the cartoon Shrek 2 spoke in the voice of Julie Andrews. Fiona's mother is a kind and fair ruler. The only thing a woman wants is happiness for her only daughter.
Like Fiona, Lillian did not know anything about her husband's agreement with the fairy. But even after Harold assumed his true guise, she did not turn her back on her husband.
