So, back in 1969 at the Soyuzmultfilm studio for the first time the children's animated film “Gene Crocodile” was released. Filmed by this most wonderful cartoon of our childhood, the director Roman Kachanov. He took inspiration from the book of Eduard Uspensky, “Crocodile Gene and His Friends,” written in 1966. Subsequently, Gena and Cheburashka appeared on the big screen three more times: new series were shot with the heroes beloved by the children - Cheburashka, Shapoklyak and Cheburashka going to school.
So why are Soviet children so fond of this inseparable couple? Yes, everything is very simple. Gena and Cheburashka are very kind and honest, they are always ready to help those in need, the doors of their house are open for all their friends. And it is precisely such that the pioneers and the October Revolutionary Dream. But years and decades passed, the Soviet Union and its ideology had long ceased to exist, there were no pioneers and October revolution, and modern children continue to love these heroes. Gena and Cheburashka are still an example of friendship, selflessness and good nature. Many parents prefer to start introducing their little ones to this particular cartoon, leaving Disney masterpieces for later. The kind and judicious crocodile Gene, naive, impressionable, affectionate and responsive Cheburashka find their way to any heart!

Parents, thanks to these two inseparable comrades, have the opportunity to plunge into their childhood, to remember with what joy and impatience they ran to the TV, or how they tearfully tried to persuade their mom and dad to switch the channel from football or the popular “soap” series to cartoon, or as they tried to learn lessons as soon as possible in order to have time to go to bed with his beloved heroes before going to bed. After all, each of us has such memories, just someone has them very close, and someone hidden deep, deep, but they all have. From these memories it blows with warmth and comfort, grandmother’s pies, tender mother’s hands, velvet evenings in the circle of a table lamp for leisurely conversations and a cup of tea. How often do we think about returning there even for a moment? And from there, from the depths of time, the unchanging friends of our childhood wave to us - Cheburashka and Gena ...
