Alexander Viktorovich is a native Muscovite. He was born here in March 1938. His mother, Tatyana Fedorova, came from a noble family that was known even under Peter the Great. The actor never saw his father Viktor Alekseevich. Even before the birth of Alexander, the elder Zbruyev, who was the head of one of the branches of the People’s Commissariat of Communications, was arrested and executed six months later on charges of participation in a counter-revolutionary organization.

When Alexander was only a month and a half, he and his mother were sent from Moscow to Rybinsk, where they lived for five years. They managed to return to the apartment on Arbat only in the midst of World War II (in 1943). By that time, five-room housing had turned into a communal apartment.

Alexander has an older brother Eugene (from his mother’s first marriage). All this time he lived in the same apartment.
