History of development
Regional Clinical Hospital (Veliky Novgorod) was opened on February 10, 1946. At that time, the institution had 90 beds, the staff consisted of 69 people. During the first year of its work in the hospital, medical assistance was provided to 3329 patients. From 1946 to 1973, 8-8.5 thousand people were treated annually. By the time the clinic turned 25 years old, it already contained 500 beds, 10 departments. It employed more than 500 people. From 1973 to 1979, the department began its work in the department of pregnancy pathology, thoracic and maxillary surgery, urology, cardiac rheumatology, phoniatric and deaf rooms. A radioisotope diagnostic laboratory was opened.
Between 1979 and 1995 a therapeutic building was formed, thanks to which new departments began to function. This, in particular: pulmonological, hematological and gastroenterological, as well as an immunological laboratory. The departments of endoscopy, chronic hemodialysis, neurophysiological studies, ultrasound diagnostics, hyperbaric oxygenation, and lithotrepsy have become independent services. Since 1995, the clinic has been practicing a new surgical technique called laparoscopy. On the basis of the institution, there are centers for disaster medicine and alternative medical care. A technical and information support service was organized, which includes a base for equipment repair and a computer center. The intensive care and resuscitation department has been completely updated with medical equipment, a new methodology for the treatment and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases (angiography), as well as a method for detecting osteoporosis (densitometry) are used. By 2005, modern equipment received the Department of chronic hemodialysis, ultrasound, X-ray department. A lithotripter of the latest model was acquired, diagnostic methods were introduced - nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. Currently, the Regional Clinical Hospital (Veliky Novgorod) annually takes part in congresses, training cycles, conferences, where it gains experience and new knowledge in various areas of medicine.
