Almost any man wants to own a weapon. Before making a purchasing decision, you must determine the purpose of its use. Many will say: for self-defense. But here we must object to you: buying an air gun for self-defense is irrational. Of course, airguns are used even when hunting for rather large animals like marmots or squirrels, but these are complicated and heavy samples - you can’t carry them in your pocket. But let's talk about everything in order.
Why buy an air gun
Firstly, airguns are an ideal way to practice shooting. This is a very cost-effective simulator, because the price of a shot is very small. In addition, permission for the air gun is not necessary.
Secondly, weapons have always been a status thing. In the army, for example, a pistol, in addition to its usual firearm function, is a symbol of power.
Thirdly, many men want to have weapons. A pneumatic gun is the best gift for a man, because it is easier to get than a firearm. Does a pneumatic gun need permission? No!
Start to choose
Before going to the store, decide what you need from the gun? If you choose a gift item, then the appearance is ruled by a ball. If you are still going to shoot, then pay special attention to the ergonomics of the structure (that is, its convenience), accuracy, the initial velocity of the bullet, and other characteristics.
Do you want to buy weapons with a caliber of more than 4.5 millimeters - but is it necessary? Permission is not required for an air gun only if its caliber is less than the above. So think for yourself.
Air gun and self defense
"Pneumatism is cool! He breaks a champagne bottle. And he looks like a real one," some of these arguments roam the heads of ardent defenders of self-defense with this type of weapon. To put it mildly, they are wrong.
Firstly, any more or less experienced person will distinguish a pneumatic gun from a real one in the following ways:
- Small barrel diameter.
- The presence of a special clamping screw on the handle.
Secondly, people who have real military weapons try not to show them without special need. Why? But because here, like in a theater: if you took it out, then in most cases you’ll have to shoot. And when you shoot the attacker from the pneumatic, he will first laugh and then give you the head of your barrel. After all, the main purpose of this kind of weapon is sports and recreational shooting, teaching children to the correct behavior with weapons. That is why permission for air pistols in Russia is not required, they are designed in such a way that de facto not be a weapon.
A little about the device of air guns
According to the principle of operation, pneumatics is divided into three large groups: spring-piston, gas and compression.
- The spring-piston group is familiar to everyone since childhood. Anyone who has ever shot at a shooting range with rifle rifles can already consider himself a master sniper. The system works as follows: breaking the trunk, you compress the spring, moving the piston back. As soon as you press the trigger, the spring will release its energy, and the piston will fly forward, and air will push the bullet out of the barrel. To make another shot, you will need to cock the piston again.
- Gas balloon weapon, as the name implies, receives energy from a special container with gas. Many people think that it contains compressed air, but this is not so, since it is flammable. Carbon dioxide is in the cylinders. The operation scheme is simple: during a shot from a cylinder, a certain amount of gas enters the barrel through the dispenser, which is more than enough to disperse the bullet.
- Compression weapon. Here, to send a bullet on a "journey", the pressure of compressed gas from a cylinder is also used, but the fundamental difference between this scheme is that you pump gas into the tank yourself. This can be done with a pump or compressor. Quality, as well as efficiency, depends on the price of the system: sometimes it is enough to swing the handle once, and sometimes ten times is not enough.
So, do you need permission for a pneumatic gun in Russia?
According to the federal law on weapons, all pneumatic systems are divided into the following groups:
- A weapon whose muzzle energy is less than 7.5 joules. In this category, the vast majority of the products on the market feel comfortable. For the acquisition and storage of such weapons, special certificates and documents are not required.
- There is a second group. Weapons with a muzzle energy of more than 7.5 joules were brought into it. These parameters are possessed by most sports and hunting weapons. In Russia, in order to purchase such a pneumatic system, you must have a valid hunting ticket.
Is it necessary to apply for a pneumatic gun in a neighboring country
Ukraine has not yet adopted a law on weapons. Far from this sphere, this oddity may seem very strange to a person, but the fact remains. So, in the legislation of the Russian Federation there is a direct and clear answer “no” to the question “whether permission is required for a pneumatic gun”. In Ukraine, they are still using the "Regulation on the licensing system", according to which it is possible to acquire pneumatic weapons with a caliber of up to 4.5 mm without permission.
