Probably, many visited one of the attractions of Australia - Wolfe Creek. But at least three of them will definitely not be there. After all, they became victims of the crazy sadist and psychopath who wielded in the vicinity of the crater. Think fiction? Not really. After all, the film “Wolf Pit”, the actors whose roles and plot will be discussed below, is based on real events.
Wolfe creek
The Australian Crater of the Wolf Channel formed about 300,000 years ago. Its diameter is almost 900 meters and its depth reaches 60 meters. It is believed that he owes such parameters to a meteorite weighing approximately 50,000 tons.
The crater is located in the vast Tanami desert, far from residential areas, so they did not know about it for so long and discovered only in 1947. They say that in this place you can still find small fragments of that meteorite. Perhaps this is what attracts the attention of many tourists. Three heroes of the movie “Wolf Pit” went on a tour there, the actors and roles of which will be discussed below.
Unfinished journey
So, the young people of Liz, Christy and Ben decide to go on a trip to Australia with a stop at a local attraction - a huge crater called the Wolf Pit. But as soon as the time comes to continue the journey, strange things begin to happen. For example, the clock hands miraculously stop, and the battery in the car discharges. At night, they just can’t get out of here. And the heroes decide to spend the night in a car.
Soon they notice a bright light from an approaching car. It was Mike Taylor, who seemed to be passing by. He volunteered to fix the transport, however, for this he needed the tools that remained in the camp. After making sure that his services will be completely free, the guys agree to go. Upon arrival, Mike treats the guests with water and sets off to repair the car. And the tourists go to bed. The next night, one of the girls wakes up in a barn, connected with a gag in her mouth.
The Wolf Pit movie: actors and roles
A strong part of the young company, Ben Mitchell, was played by Nathan Phillips (Chernobyl Diaries, Snakes on an Airplane, etc.). He is an Australian, unlike his British girlfriends. He likes one of them, and he expects that a trip to the crater will help the girl to relax. Apparently, it would have happened so if it had not happened what happened.
The role of Liz Hunter was played by Cassandra Magrat. Like the rest of the actors who got into the Wolf Pit thriller, she starred in several more films (The Big Mommy's Boy, Scary Company, etc.). The British is more serious than her friends, she seems to be taking care of them. First he sends Mitchell to agree with Mike, and then reassures the guys so that they stop joking with him. As if she knew that it won’t bring to good. The girl understands what Ben likes. However, the guy is also pretty to her. Who knows, maybe they will succeed if, of course, they survive.
Kesti Morassi (Dirty Deeds, Illustrated Family Doctor) got the role of Christie Earle, the frivolous girlfriend of Liz. Given the genre of the film, I immediately want to assign her the status of victim number one.
This is all the actors of the movie “Wolf Pit” who play positive characters. There was a serial killer. It was played by John Jerrett (“Picnic at the Hanging Scale”, “Django Unchained”, “Australia”, etc.). Mike Taylor lives in abandoned mines, not far from the crater. He was a ray of hope for the guys when he found their stalled car and offered to repair it completely free of charge. Therefore, they were not embarrassed by the fact that he appeared here at night, although for the whole day there was not a soul in this place. And what specific job he has. And even the fact that he treated them with rainwater from a dirty canister. On the other hand, did they have a way out?

So what is the problem of the Wolf Pit movie? Actors may have played well, but their characters are not well disclosed. Nothing special to tell about them. There is no information about their past, interests, work, family, it is not even clear how they got here. It was as if they were just born, and then they were simply inserted at the beginning of the film and put into the plot.
And why did they go three together? Who is doing this now? Really could not find another Australian who would be Christie's company. Indeed, there were much more of them on the beach. Although, maybe in this country so accepted.
True or fiction?
At the beginning of the film, the announcer explains that he is based on real events. Indeed, in Australia there was such a maniac, Ivan Milat, who took the lives of seven people. Yes, among them were the British, Australians and Germans, and all the victims mostly died from stab and gunshot wounds. But Milat did not attack entire companies. He mainly hunted single tourists.
His capture was facilitated by a man who called the police and said that he nearly died after meeting with Milat, when he offered to give him a lift. After the attack, he managed to escape in a passing car. But this man was alone, so he could not be a witness to the events taking place in the film. So, most likely, the plot of the picture was invented based on this story.
To be continued
In principle, the film can be called successful, given the reviews about it. Therefore, in 2013, Greck McLean presented a new story about people who went to the surroundings of that crater. So the film "Wolf Pit 2" appeared. The actors in it, except, of course, John Jarrath, starred in others. The main roles went to: Ryan Corr (“Help Become a Father,” “For Conscience”), Shannon Ashlyn (“Chocolate Oyster”) and Philip Klaus. So there were three characters trapped again.
