During the Soviet Union, in any perfume department, you could buy a Triple cologne. It cost a penny, there were no queues behind it, so it was not always used for its intended purpose. The history of this "Cologne Water" has more than three centuries, and it was conceived not at all as a perfume, but as a kind of elixir with miraculous properties that can heal almost all the diseases of the world. The instructions clearly indicated that this remedy can protect against plague, remove poison from the body, cure jaundice, colic, burns, etc. And it added beauty, giving the face skin smoothness and beautiful color.
Therefore, the Triple Cologne was a remedy. But this lasted until Napoleon issued a decree in 1810, which required the disclosure of recipes for absolutely all healing elixirs, potions and
other so-called drugs. The manufacturers of Cologne Water did not want to reveal their secrets, so they added several fragrant components to the cologne and stated that it was a perfume. In a new capacity, the miraculous elixir was also adopted with a bang, even the emperor himself was delighted with him. We can say that it was he, with his army, who brought the Triple Cologne to Russia when he was going to conquer Moscow. Fortunately, he did not succeed in doing this, but the βwaterβ, in which about 60 percent of alcohol was contained, took root. And, based on its composition, other perfumes began to be produced in the country.
But where did the name come from - Triple Cologne? Its composition may have been
something mysterious? Not at all. Simply, in order to declare the medicine as a perfume, three aromatic components were added to it, namely: bergamot, lemon and neroli. Since then, the composition has not changed much, although some modern manufacturers of this cologne also add lavender, geranium, nutmeg, coriander, sage (of course, in the form of essential oils) to it. On sale Triple Cologne can be found without any problems, and it is, by today's standards, still inexpensive. Oddly enough, girls are increasingly buying it, as they are convinced of its effectiveness against skin imperfections. In many ladies' forums, this remedy is filled exclusively with compliments, since it helped get rid of young (and not so) beauties from acne.

Here, for example, they recommend such a recipe: two packs of streptocide are added to the Triple Cologne, mixed and put in a dark place for ten days so that everything is well dissolved and insisted. After that, twice a day with a cotton swab dipped in the resulting solution, lubricate the affected areas on the skin. And cologne, but in its pure form, helps relieve itching
after mosquito bites. Some even manage to strengthen their hair, as well as relieve pain in arthritis and other similar diseases. The only drawback of Cologne Water was its smell. But, since it is used exclusively for medicinal purposes, and not for perfumery at all, it is quite possible to put up with such a drawback, especially since the effect of using this cologne, in the literal sense, is obvious.
