The Irish film and television director B. Kirk is best known to the audience as the creator of individual episodes in significant television projects of our time: Game of Thrones, Luther, Tudors, Underground Empire and Dexter.
Brief Biographical Facts
Brian Kirk was born in 1968 in the smallest number of people living in it, but proudly bearing the status of the county capital, the town of Armagh in Northern Ireland. Since Armagh was and is the most important religious center of the region, the child was brought up in severity, without excesses. It is not known for certain what the future talented television director was like - an assiduous know-it-all or restless boy-a bully. There is no doubt one thing - from an early age he was interested in the world of cinema and television. After receiving the appropriate education, the matured Brian Kirk in 1998 begins his creative development with the creation of short films "Doll" and "Billy and Zorb."
Ascent to Glory
In 2002, Brian Kirk began his creative career as a television director with the comedy show “Now It Doesn't Matter,” in which he created two episodes. After which he was invited by the producers as the director of the British detective television series Murphy’s Law, which tells of the Irish policeman Tommy Murphy. The visionary continued to improve his acquired skills in the television films Donovan and Veselyandiya.
In 2006, he made his first full-length feature film drama, Middletown. Oddly enough, but after the success of Middletown, Brian Kirk exchanges films for TV shows again. In 2007, the author manages to work on creating separate episodes for the television projects Wealth, The Tudors, and The Brotherhood.
However, Kirk’s breakthrough as director is considered to be the television movie “My Boy Jack,” which the visionary also shot in 2007. The movie drama is a film adaptation of the play of the same name by D. Haig and tells the story of the world famous writer Rudyard Kipling and his son John, who laid his head in the battles of the First World War. Starring in the film starred David Haig, Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall. The picture was enthusiastically received by critics, especially the performers of male key characters were awarded all sorts of praise. In subsequent years, Brian Kirk remains one of the most sought-after directors on TV, takes part in the creation of the series Father and Son, Dexter, Luther, and Underground Empire. In 2011, he becomes one of the directors of the first season of the cult series Game of Thrones. The director creates three episodes: “The Wolf and the Lion”, “Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things” and “Lord Snow” when he receives an offer from the producers of the upcoming television movie “Great Expectations”. Brian succumbs to their insistent requests and leaves the Game of Thrones.
In the same year, he claimed a director's chair in the movie “Thor 2: The Kingdom of Darkness”, however, due to financial and creative differences, an agreement was not reached with the studio, so the project was directed by Kirk’s colleague on the “Game of Thrones” Alan Taylor. Due to the busy schedule of filming the movie “Gilded Lilies”, Brian was also unable to return to directing the third season of “The Game”.
For some time, the director was passionate about the development of the space drama "Passengers", and the creators were going to invite Keanu Reeves to the main role. As a result, the film was directed by Morten Tildum, and the role of the central character was played by Chris Pratt.

Perhaps in the near future the filmography of Brian Kirk will be replenished with a project that is somewhat delayed at the development stage. The late Tony Scott began work on it , then for a long time the director's position was vacant. More recently, it became known that the filming process will be led by Kirk, and the age-old Liam Neeson will play the main role. According to the idea of the creators, the thriller "Narcosubmarin" tells the story of a disgraced US Navy officer, whom circumstances force him to take a submarine with cocaine past the brave coast guard. The project will be produced by Ridley Scott, Anutan Fukua and Doug Lyman, and they gave preference to Brian. It remains to be hoped that fans of the visionary’s work will have to wait a short time for the premiere.
