Albert Tumenov. Battle Style and Success Story

Fighters from different countries come to the UFC (the leading mixed martial arts promotion). Some of them achieve success and love of the public. Albert Tumenov, whom the fans nicknamed Einstein, was no exception. The young fighter impresses the audience with a bright style, the desire to fight in a stance and finish it ahead of schedule. Albert is now fighting outside the UFC. As of the summer of 2017, he is the champion of ACB. By nationality, Albert Tumenov is a Balkarian.

Carier start

In childhood, the future fighter was engaged in kyokushin karate and achieved considerable success in it. Albert Tumenov won several youth tournaments and received a degree of 6 kyu, which corresponds to the yellow belt.

Then Albert enrolled in the section of army hand-to-hand combat - a more rigid and "realistic" martial arts. The results were also impressive: a victory at the 15th Championship of Russia, participation in the youth team of Kabardino-Balkaria and much more. Throughout his career, Tumenov tried himself in boxing and combat sambo, but made the final choice in favor of mixed martial arts. As it turned out, not in vain.

Style features

Kabardino-Balkarian is a bright "drummer" who, instead of fighting, prefers to defend himself against transfers to the stalls. Striking power helps him to knock out opponents in the early rounds. Prefers punches, but can use legs.

The main problem of the style is weakness against really strong fighters. Being transferred to the stalls, Albert experiences severe inconvenience and can not provide serious resistance.

Career at UFC

The first battle in the leading promotion, the Russian lost. The enemy was the Brazilian Ildemar Alcantara. Rival Tumenova chose the right tactics. He used the style of “round-end-pound", over and over again translating Tumenov into the stalls and striking with his fists and elbows. Already in the first round, this led to the appearance of a dissection on the face of Albert Tumenov.

In the second round, Alcantara chose an even safer manner - he threw the opponent to the floor and kept him there. The fight was relatively boring. As a result of the judge gave the victory to the Brazilian.

The UFC has a rule according to which newcomers who lose two fights leave the organization. Rehabilitation was needed, and Tumenov was able to achieve his goal. A second bout was scheduled against American Anthony Lapsley. The 34-year-old rival spent a large number of fights in various promotions, but did not achieve much success in the UFC.

Einstein was preparing for a fight in the USA, at the K-Dojo club. The main goal of the training was to develop protection against transfers to the stalls. The tactics turned out to be true. At first, the fighters neatly moved along the octagon, trying to provoke each other on the attack. The first to attack was an American who attempted a takedown. Did not work out. A larger Russian citizen successfully suppressed the opponent’s attacks and moved much faster. At one point, Einstein caught the foot of an American and hit him twice in the head. The enemy fell to the floor, and it was evident that his fighting spirit had noticeably decreased.

The knockout happened at the end of the first round. Tumenov's left hook overtook the opponent. Even finishing was not needed.

Second UFC defeat

After defeating Anthony Lapsley, Tumenov won four more times, including the pretty strong Alan Zhuban and Lorenz Larkin. It is time to move on to the big leagues and fight the best of the best. Gunnar Nelson, an experienced Icelandic wrestler, was chosen as the next opponent. Nelson won almost all his victories by surrendering the enemy.

The fight showed that Albert Tumenov is not ready for battles with excellent fighters yet. The Russian tried to knock out the Icelander, but he calmly stopped attempts and without any problems performed transfers to the stalls. The fight ended in the second round - the Kabardino-Balkarian lost by suffocation from behind.

After there was a battle with Leon Edwards, which went along approximately the same scenario. The rival again came into a comfortable position and carried out a strangulation from behind. The second defeat in a row led to the dismissal of Tumenov from the UFC and the transition to the Russian ACB promotion. There, he defeated Ismael de Jesus by knockout.

Albert Tumenov: rating

Despite 2 defeats, the Russian fighter remains at a fairly high level. Its main drawback is the relative weakness in front of experienced fighters. Especially good are the spectacular knockouts that delight the audience with Albert Tumenov. Photos of the best moments certainly diverge in hundreds of martial arts-related resources. Perhaps in the future, the Russian will return to the UFC or make a bright career in ACB.
