William, for the sake of his own ambitions and parents, tried to win the heart of Alina - the daughter of Count Shearing. But she does not feel the slightest sympathy for him. The girl, because of rude harassment, refuses him to ridicule the courtiers.
Enraged, William terminates the contract with Tom and puts him on the brink of poverty. The hero and his family go in search of work. Along the way, Tom meets former novice Ellen, hiding from the church, as well as her son Jack. The girl helps Martha, daughter of Tom. She was wounded after an attack by robbers. In addition, Ellen gives shelter to the heroes in his own cave in the forest.
