Emir Spahic: career of a Bosnian footballer

Emir Spahic is a professional Bosnian footballer, central defender. From 2004 to the present he has been playing for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Now is a free agent. During his career he represented clubs from Croatia, Russia, France, Spain and Germany. He is the champion in the number of games for the national team. In 93 matches, Emir Spahich managed to score 6 goals. Football player's sports achievements are associated only with the Russian championship. Here he won the Russian Cup in 2006, was a finalist of the Russian Super Cup in 2008 and 2013, twice became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship (RFPL).

Biography and early football career

He was born on August 18 in 1980 in the city of Dubrovnik (Yugoslavia). In his youth, until 1998, he played for such youth clubs as Celik (Zenica) and Kraina (Tsazin). From 1999 to 2001 he played for GOSHK (Dubrovnik), where he spent 22 matches and scored 2 goals. In the period from 2001 to 2004, he played for the Zagreb club, where it was formed as a promising and talented footballer. Here he played 38 matches and scored two goals.

Transition to "Shinnik"

In 2004, the Bosnian defender became interested in the club from the Russian Premier League “Shinnik”. At that time, the rating of Emir Spahich in the Bosnian Premier League was quite high, so the player could easily go to a more titled and eminent club. Nevertheless, a contract with Shinnik was signed, and the amount of the transfer was not covered in the media. In the period from 2004 to 2005 he played 26 matches for the Yaroslavl club and scored 6 goals. Soon, the Torpedo club management became interested in the player and Emir signed a contract with them after the end of the 2004/05 season. But a career in the Moscow “Torpedo” is especially unremarkable, the Bosnian played just half a season - 15 matches and without goals scored.

Transition to Lokomotiv Moscow

In the fall of 2006, Emir Spahich moved to Moscow Lokomotiv. As part of the "railway" played until 2008. During this time, the footballer played 63 matches and scored three goals. A career in Loko brought the Bosnian many titles that were the first in his career at a professional level. In 2006, as part of the “red-green”, he won the 2007 Russian Cup, bronze medalist of the Premier League and finalist of the Russian Super Cup.

Career at Seville

On July 4, 2011, the Bosnian entered into an agreement with the Spanish Seville for 2 million euros for a period of three years. Here he met with his national comrade Miroslav Stevanovich, who joined the Nervionians in January 2013. He scored his first goal on January 5, 2013 in a match against Osasuna, Spakhich's goal turned out to be the only and victorious one. Throughout his career at Seville, he played 44 matches and scored one goal.

Rent in "Anji Makhachkala"

On February 26, 2013, Emir was leased to the Russian club Anji. Here he played the remainder of the 2012/13 season, having played 7 matches in which he scored one goal (April 14 against Volga from Nizhny Novgorod).

Bayer 04

On June 28, 2013, Emir Spahich, whose statistics competed with the best European defenders, signed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen. July 5, 2015 moved to the club "Hamburg". The contract was designed for one season, but upon completion it extended it for another year. Here he played 37 matches without goals. In 2017, he left the club and became a free agent.
