Lacking Hollywood’s capabilities, budgets and a “nourished” viewer, Spain, like the rest of the world, is trying to draw a bit of the attention of the world cinema community to itself. Filmmakers of the state, in spite of the economic crisis, are doing great - either they will throw an eccentric Almodovar into the world for hire, they will give out a thriller with an impressive set of passions, or they will sinister sinisterly with horror. And here is their next move - the murderous melodrama by Daniel Calparsoro “Ignition” - unexpectedly powerfully declared itself at the world box office.
Skillful Mediterranean passion
The Ignition actors who took part in the project are described as a sultry love story, alternating with inexorable races in the Fast and Furious style. And the flamboyant slogan assuring the viewer that the picture from the producers of "Three meters above the sky" only complements the intrigue. In fact, the film is simple, the plot action is sometimes too fussy, the heroes do stupid things every now and then, act less logically and thoughtfully (which can be attributed to the peculiarities of the Mediterranean temperament), but in general, the project was done with amazing diligence. “Ignition” is a film in which film gourmets will definitely note the work of the operator (Daniel Aranjo), a good choice of locations and neatly, even modestly set erotic and romantic scenes.
According to the pattern of "Three meters ..."
All inconsistencies in the storyline are overshadowed by the actors with their skill and temperament. “Ignition” begins with the acquaintance of the viewer with the beautiful Ari (actress Adriana Ugarte), who is a member of a gang of robbers, and her duties include seducing rich men with the aim of penetrating their homes. After that, her accomplices are sent, led by her friend Navasa (Alberto Amman). The gang is operating quite successfully, and its extraction allows participants to leave Madrid. Heroes are sent to Lisbon in order to take part in organized car races. Navas, being an experienced racer, expects to win and the main prize, which would ensure them a comfortable and honest existence. They have to crank out the last deal, which turns out to be a failure.
Not according to plan
Another victim of the fatal beauty is the narrowed owner of the jewelry store, Mikel (actor Alex Gonzalez), and he turns out to be a tough nut for an insidious seductress. After a show flight on a private plane, Ari realizes that she has fallen in love with her victim. To all it turns out that Mikel is an ex-racer, a professional who has ceased to participate in competitions due to an accident. Now the “bandit” and “major” are competing not only for the heart of the main character, but also for the main prize of the auto racing. Love and crime stories are completely mixed up at the moment when Navas challenges Mikel and they both take part in the warm-up before the official competitions - in the underground race. Men understand that one field of a berry, and apparently they are not inferior to each other, their roles are performed by handsome actors. “Ignition” is a picture whose creators were worried rather than the presence of acting talent, but the external data of the main actors.
Actors
The real handsome Alex Gonzalez presented the viewer with a somewhat unreasonable character, but adequately beaten by the performer. In the frame, he looks quite decent and dignified. But Alberto Amman, although he played well, but lost to Alex in all respects. The undisputed advantage of the movie should be considered Adrian Ugarte, at least for his sexy appearance and decent acting talent.
For the target audience
The Spanish film with frantic races and handsome guys does not claim to be a masterpiece of cinema art, but it fulfills the task perfectly, being a product compiled by the creators from impressive music videos and professionally served for the target audience. This is confirmed by critics, and creators, and actors. “Ignition” is a mixture of sweet pop hits for girls, adrenaline episodes with races for the strong half of humanity, i.e. A great movie to date.
