As you know, some pathogenic bacteria and viruses can spread in the smallest droplets of saliva through the air at a distance of up to 7 meters. Such a simple remedy as a gauze dressing, if used correctly, will serve as a reliable protective barrier to viruses and bacteria.
The material used to make the mask is of great importance. Synthetic material is a pretty poor defender, makes breathing difficult and can cause an allergic reaction. A quality gauze bandage mask is made of medical cotton gauze, which normally lets air through, allowing the skin to breathe without sweating. The larger the number of mask layers, the more significant the degree of protection. The most acceptable number of layers would be 4-8.
An additional positive feature of a multilayer gauze dressing made of natural material is reusable use. To restore the protective properties, it is enough to stretch it with laundry soap and iron it well.
When using a gauze dressing, protection is provided against influenza, as well as from other diseases transmitted by airborne droplets. If you are sick, then the protection used will reduce the risk of contracting viral diseases of others.
A gauze dressing can be purchased at the pharmacy. The choice can be made among 4-and 6-layer reusable cotton products. For ease of use there are dressings with ties and elastic bands. The face will not sweat in them,
breathing will not be
difficult, and for repeated use they just need to be ironed with a hot iron.
If it did not work out to stock up with a gauze bandage in a pharmacy, it is not difficult to do it yourself. Making a cotton-gauze dressing does not take much time and does not require any special knowledge. To do this, you need a piece of gauze 1 meter long, 60 centimeters wide. Having spread the cheesecloth on the table, an even layer of cotton wool 20 × 20 cm in size and about 1 - 2 cm thick is laid in the middle. There should be enough cotton so that it does not interfere with breathing and at the same time covers the mouth and nose. Now the gauze is bent from two sides along the entire length, covering the cotton layer. The ends of the gauze are cut to 25 - 30 cm from all sides to get webbing for tying. For strength, the resulting bandage should be stitched with threads along the edges of the straps, on both sides of the cotton wool. Homemade dressing is ready. Every 3 to 4 hours it must be changed. You can also take a wide medical bandage for manufacturing.

The gauze bandage should be sized so that it completely covers the nose and mouth. At the same time, its lower part should tightly cover the chin, and the upper corners of the rectangular bandage should almost reach the ears. The upper and lower ties are tied at the back of the head, passing, respectively, above and under the ears.
Do not hesitate to put on a bandage in the transport and in any crowded places where there is a possibility of "catching" the infection. Indeed, timely prevention is much better than subsequent treatment. Protect yourself and loved ones on time from the common cold.
