Many countries arose only after the middle of the twentieth century. This is no exception. The national flag of Sudan, whose photographs are familiar to all who are interested in Arab countries, appeared only in 1970. The country received independence and the name of the Democratic Republic. The flag of Sudan has remained unchanged all this time.
Appearance of the panel
The standard is distinguished by the traditional shape of the rectangle, which is characteristic of almost all existing symbols. The parties relate to each other in a proportion of two to one, which is a little less common. The flag of Sudan is covered in three horizontal stripes of the same size. They go in the following order - first red, then white, and then black. An isosceles triangle of a dark green hue is placed near the pole. All the colors used on the banner are also characteristic of many other powers of the region, which unites Sudan with its neighbors.
Color meaning
The red color is a reminder of the fierce struggle for sovereignty and blood shed by patriots in the battles for independence. This is the traditional meaning of the shade, which is found in both European and Asian heraldry. White color is a sign of the peaceful nature of the state and the desire for equal relations with all other countries. Black serves as a symbol of the country itself - the name Sudan means “power of blacks” in Arabic. A triangle made in saturated green is a sign of the Islamic religion, which is practiced by almost one hundred percent of the state’s population, which is typical for the Arab region where it is located. In addition, it also serves as a symbol of land-holding traditions, which have been of great importance here for many centuries. The same shades are used on the coat of arms, which is an image of a black secretary bird on a white background, which holds a red shield on his chest. Under it is an inscription in green - this is the name of the state, made in Arabic script. The motto of the country is depicted in the same way above the coat of arms.
Appearance story
Initially, a blue-yellow-green cloth was used here. It was even officially approved in 1956, when the country became free from the troops of the British and Egyptians. Such a flag of Sudan had an interesting meaning. The blue strip above served as a symbol of the main African river - the Nile. It is of great importance to all residents of the Sudan. The yellow stripe marked Sudanese deserts, which covered most of the country. The Sudanese depicted in green the fertile land that provides them with the opportunity for farming.
