Some housewives ask: "What is a boomasea?" This fabric is cotton, warm and light. Ideal for children's clothing. However, this fabric used to have a different name, and a different purpose, and a different composition, but it was always warm, light and hygienic.

What is boomasea? History

bombosin tissue

Oddly enough, the matter, which is called "bombazin", was often found on the pages of novels about antiquity - this is the well-known bumazeya.

What does this word mean ? So it was originally called dense silk material, then they began to designate textiles with this name, the main threads of which were linen or silk, and the weft ones were made from short-fiber cotton (which formed a low pile on the wrong side) or wool.

The bomb shop became completely cotton due to the appearance of long-fiber cotton. It was made by twill or crepe weaving, which resulted in a dense, but rather thin fabric, which has a smooth front surface and a fluffy underside.

At the same time, the bomb shop, which received the name of bumazey in Russia, was initially painted in soft colors, mainly in black. Black matter was considered the most suitable for practical and inexpensive mourning dresses that were worn before the beginning of the last century, and lighter colors were used for everyday and official toilets.

Cotton bleached bumazeya appeared later and was used for warm linen, and for the cold season they began to sew practical women's and children's clothes from printed material.

Kinds

Using the twill weave method, a modern bumazeya is made, more rarely, by the plain weave method . Cotton fibers of medium length are used for it, of which, using special equipment, a low soft pile is brought to the wrong surface.

As a rule, the density of boomasea is from one hundred sixty to two hundred sixty grams per square meter. Cheap short-haired cotton is almost always looser and heavier.

The main types of boomasea:

  • severe;
  • bleached;
  • printed, usually has a print on a children's theme, as well as with β€œoriental” and floral bright patterns;
  • one-colored in light colors (usually it is pink, blue, less often yellow), as well as all kinds of bright shades;
  • plain with a pattern on the front side of smooth and brushed fragments.

A little higher it was found out what a bumazeya is, now it is worth learning about its features. Due to the cotton natural composition and manufacturing features, boomasea has the following features:

  • hypoallergenic and hygienic;
  • it warms well, while allowing water vapor and air to pass from the surface of the skin;
  • comfort and softness when touched;
  • low price.

Disadvantages and advantages

The main disadvantages of this fabric include low strength, fast abrasion of the pile, not strong enough color. Nevertheless, for children's clothing, bumazeya is excellent, which is currently its main application. Gradually, as a warm home textile, this material is supplanted by different types of knitwear.

However, pile bleached cotton is still widely used for sewing army warm clothes. Technical application has severe textile with a pile, it is used as a lining in shoes and as other internal parts. Bumazeya-cord is most often used for this purpose, it is pre-dressed, that is, to impart rigidity, it is impregnated with special compounds.

Bike, flannel and boomasea. Difference

Bumazeya is close to the bike, but it is thinner, albeit thicker than the flannel. A brief description of the flannel is present in the Dahl dictionary - this is a thin bike, soft fleecy fabric. In another dictionary, the word "boomasea" is given to the word "flannel" as a synonym. So what is boomasea? This material is almost similar to a flannel and a bike. These fabrics are almost identical, and the words denoting them are essentially synonyms.
