Maxim Osipov is a cardiologist at the Central District Hospital of the Tarusa District of the Kaluga Region, a publicist, playwright, and prose writer. Winner of many awards in the field of literature. His works have been translated into many foreign languages. Performances in theaters are staged according to his plays.

He was born on October 4, 1963 in Moscow. He graduated from school No. 2 with a physical and mathematical bias, the second Moscow Medical Institute, graduate school. He defended his thesis.

He worked in Moscow clinics, as well as at the University of California (San Francisco, 1991-1992). He is the founder of the medical publishing house "Practice" (1993). He led it until 2010. The publishing house was engaged in the translation of medical manuals, works on theology and musicology.

He published the book "Clinical Echocardiography" (co-authored with N. Schiller) in two editions - 1993 and 2005. In Russian, this is the most popular guide for this specialty.

Medical activity

In 2005, Maxim Osipov returned to medical practice, but not in Moscow, but in the city of Tarusa. I came here not by chance - his great-grandfather, who was sent for the 101st kilometer, worked here. The grandmothers remembering that deported doctor are still alive.

Osipov did not go to Tarusa alone, but along with a very young doctor, Okhotin, Artemy Nikitich, who had completed his residency in Moscow and remained here permanently.

Mortality in the Tarusa Central District Hospital with their arrival was halved.

In the same year, Maxim Osipov created the Society for Assistance to the Tarusa Hospital. This is a charity that gained fame in 2008.

Then the team of doctors successfully resisted the arbitrariness of local authorities. As a result, the Tarusa hospital received modern equipment and qualified personnel. A new cardiology department of inter-district significance was opened, repairs were made.

On August 10, 2012, the Declaration of Independence of Russian Doctors, compiled by Osipov and Okhotin, appeared on the Web. In this document, they briefly described the state of affairs, as they see it, and solutions. The declaration was signed by several hundred doctors from different parts of the country.

Creative activity

Along with medical activities, Maxim Osipov in 2007 began to publish his stories, novels and essays in the journal “Banner”, which awarded him prizes in 2007 and 2015. Published 5 of his collections:

  • “The cry of poultry” (2011);
  • “Renaissance Man” (2012);
  • “The Wave of the Sea” (2014);
  • “Town Eternity” (2017).

He is a laureate of various literary prizes. The works of Maxim Osipov are published:

  • in French (2 collections - 2011 and 2014, the third will be released in 2018);
  • in Spanish and Catalan (Barcelona, ​​2016);
  • in Italian (Rome);
  • in Lithuanian (Vilnius);
  • in German (Vienna, 2018);
  • in Hebrew (Tel Aviv, 2018).

In 2018, collections are being prepared for release in Croatian (Zagreb) and Albanian (Tirana) languages. Separate plays, novels and short stories are translated into Polish, Czech, Chinese, English, Finnish, Georgian, Greek.

In 2019, the most complete collection of stories and short stories by Maxim Osipov in English will be released at the New York Publishing House.

In the Omsk Drama Theater (directed by Elena Nevezhina, 2012) and in the St. Petersburg Maly Drama Theater (directed by S. Shchipitsin, 2013), his play Russian and Literature was staged. In 2013, the play “Scapegoats” was staged on the radio (dir. Maxim Osipov).
